TES4Gecko Merging

Okay, so I got two files here. Mod.esp and Fix.esp. Fix.esp has Mod.esp listed as a master. I want to merge these two plugins.

Now I got two options here. I can either convert Mod.esp into Mod.esm and edit Fix.esp's Master list to Mod.esm instead, and then use the Merge to Master function, then convert Mod.esm back into an esp.

Or, I could use the Merge Plugins function, listing Mod.esp as 1 and Fix.esp as 2. The only problem I have with this method, is afterward, you end up with a plugin that has itself listed as a master. So I again use Edit Master List to remove itself as a Master.

Which is the better method, or will they both produce the same result? I'm basically on the lookout for unexpected consequences here. Should I be using a different program for this type of thing?

Edit: Also, in this scenario, Fix.esp is also bashable, I'm not sure if that'd make a difference or not though.
