Is Skyrim going to be dependant on Steam?

Not sure if serious...

Yes I'm serious. The second hand game market is a huge problem for console games which is partly why they are so dear compared to PC games. The publisher sells the game once and then the store sells it 5 times over as a second hand game and makes a packet with nothing going on to the publisher. I never buy second hand games for this reason.

With Steam if you can't afford the game at release and normally you would wait a bit to get it second hand or on sale, well you can still do that as Steam often has good sales and then when you buy it the proceeds of the sale still goes to the publisher.

It's a great system when you think about it, a win-win for gamer and publisher/game studio, and something publishers are still trying to solve for the console market. Meanwhile you will keep paying a premium for console games to cover lost proceeds from second hand resale, but I hope in the future console games would also become personalised to an account and see more store sales rather than half stocked with pre owned games.

Console games are expensive because they can charge whatever they want and you have to pay it because you have no choice.

Let's not have another of these topics for a while - whilst I understand some of you are concerned about it being a Steam only game - and we don't know whether it will be or not - there is too much going round in circles and dragging up the same arguments, nothing new is being said.
