The lag! Why oh why the lag!

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 12:32 pm

Watching Brink being streamed on justin.tv currently.
The player is attempting to play online and is, in fact, getting into multiplayer games.
However, the lag is horrendous and he lags out more than actually playing.
I'm hoping the lag issues are solved once the game is officially launched.

If not... I foresee the horrendous lag that I'm witnessing being the death of Brink.
Be it on the Xbox 360, PC, or PS3.

Everything pre-day 1 patch is going to be laggy. This has been made clear many times.

That would kill the game, since AI isn't as smart as said in interviews.
Would be a shame is such a simple thing as lag killed a game.

Truly?
I know they said they were going to patch graphical glitches with the Xbox 360 version.
Though I haven't heard any mention of said patch fixing the horrendous lag experienced during online play.
And to my knowledge, the other versions won't be getting a day 1 patch.

As stated above, the more you have going on, the more lag you will see. As with all online games, he is streaming video which can kill bandwidth, playing a game, also requiring bandwidth, and might be downloading something which, you guessed it, is killing bandwidth. Combine all that is possibly going on with a possible bad connection, and it is a recipe for disaster.

In other words, don't stream if you don't have the Up/Down speed to do so.

You also know NOTHING about his connection power.

And they specifically mentioned in the article about the day 1 patch "minor networking issues" - could be relevant.

Main issue is probably the streaming though.
