Question....how do you incur lag if the game isn't out yet and no one else would be online playing?
Stop asking questions that are based upon incorrect facts. In this case you are assuming that no one else is online with the game, which is not true. As a result the OP is playing online with others that have the game 'early'.
Street dates are regularly broken as the game in question is often in the stores a week or more before the actual release date. You don't honestly think that a company can manufacture, package and distribute millions of copies of the game just before release, right? As a result the publisher has the final code and sends that off to be burned onto the discs, then it is tested and packaged. Once they have enough they send them off to their distributors. It is for this reason why 'day 1' patches are rather common since the developer has 4-6 weeks to test/tweak their 'final' code before the game is actually released.
