fix acrobatics?

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:17 am

Honestly for me acrobatics was double edged.
You could have lots of fun with it, and was a useful tactical ability ever now and then.
However the leveling of it was erratic and it was a skill that was not really of great use apart from the odd place.

I'd rather have jumping more based on race and then have the game focus on a dodging skill that effected combat than the oddly counter productive roll we had in oblivion.

dodging could be great, just as fighters have block and need perfect timing to execute it, rogues would have dodging moves

you press the dodge button at the right time and you execute a duck, jump, head bobbing, sidestep . . . depending on your enemies attack

it would make stealth characters so much more fun to play

We already know there is no acrobatics skill and no athletics skill either. Its seems they didnt like how xp was gained in those skills.

Oh, right. I thought that was just theorized. Where was that confirmed?

So you want a medieval themed Mirrors Edge?

I think that he was just trying to show how agile human can actually be and how TES world is actually stiff.

This is elder scrolls, the devs arent putting effort into wallrunning and crap, they put into the combat systems and the creatures.

Yeah, because being super agile is terrible thing in combat. >.>

A bit off topic:
I wish there were skills that allowed us to make lighting fast movements (something like Assassin Rush in Fable TLC) or some shadow based skills for people who like really dark characters.

In a todd interview. They hated the way they gained xp.

I rekon they could either do climbing GTA style with auto pull up, or the way games like prototype do it where you press one button and u "stick" to the wall and can just climb all over (would make more sense for cliffs). Finally there could be something based off MW2 cliffhanger; so you could buy picks and climb directly upwards on a cliff sorta like a mobile ladder.

I think there is a dragon shout that allows us to do pretty much the exact same things as assassins rush.

That Acrobatics and Athletics are gone doesn't suprise me, really. Nor do I entirely mourn their passing.

awesome video. yeah i think it would be cool to be able to do some of those things to access hard to reach places or as an alternate means of getting into a restricted area to carry out an assassination or to steal something. but i really only see assassin or thief type characters benefiting from this. mages can levitate (i hope) and warriors can just kick the front door in.

Woah, are people really asking for double jumping, or is this a wind up? This is a terrible mechanic in any game, only just about believable with rocket boots. I can think of worse ideas, just, ( diagonal jumping in Turok ), but jumping, then jumping again, presumably off a really thick bit of air, who thought that one up?

While I generally agree I can see certain perks adding a bit of magic to a mundane skill. Though off of air still seems a bit of a stretch, wall jumping or even oblivions water jumping work better in my mind.
