Completly Open world

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:11 pm

Ok, i know this may seem impossible, but ive seen it done in games before, a world in which you dont have to wait for those damn loading screens, which half the time is what bored me about oblivion. There is a mod for Tes IV in which the major cities, excluding Kvatch and Imperial City, where open, but and secondary locations such as dungeons and caves still had loading screens. and if th ema is to big to generate, tna they should at least section areas in skyrim for which you will only have to load once or twice per play. Kinda like in GTA Vice city, where there was a loading screen when you moved to another city, or fable.
Another thing that would be awsome is completely unique dialogue for individauls in skyrim, Im tired of passing by people spewing the same [censored] ive been hearing for ages... I want to go into a bar, and people are singing, and throwing punches breaking glasses, and arguing if anything.
Well thats just some of the things that TES IV and III where lacking, hopefuly they fix it. Oh one more thing... Beards, if where going to live in a snow capped areas, ( sopposedly) where going to need beards and heavy Norse Type armor, with the ability to choose your characters fatness, height, and muscles.
Hopefully some of you guys agree that this is some of the stuff TES V needs the most.

It will be a better world if it has load screens... it only takes a modicum of patience.

I agree with the Dialogue, it got old after awhile.

You realize that there are hardware and space constraints on games, right? Some of the stuff you describe would be impossible on current gen hardware without scrapping much of the game's visual fidelity (See Two Worlds).

I think we should keep all of the suggestions to a suggestions thread. Apart from that I would love to see an open world.

I don't think it's so much a matter of loading, but loading screens.

Morrowinds world (with the exception of Mournhold) was entirely open. You had zones that loaded in, but the world itself was entirely open, which adds a lot to immersion. The only thing about Morrowind in this area that broke immersion for me was that caves/tombs/etc all started with a door. Even grotto's had a door, as if someone had decided to install an underwater door (which doesn't really function very well). It would be nice to see more natural entrances to these areas, even if they were zoned interiors.

if they did this SOME PC players could play and almost no consoles could play, so do you want to play no game at all or a few loading screens

Have any of you guys seen far cry 2, that games environment was amazing, and there was barely any loading, especially when it came to the mods.

This belongs in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1147719-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-188/
Otherwise, I would like the dialogue and beards, while I liked the dialogue in IV, it could be way cooler - like you said, arguments and songs.
Beards belong in SKyrim.

Are you talking about making a game identical to real life?
I know Bethesda is good, but I dont think technology is there yet.

Just cause 2...check it out that open world will change your mind on what is "possible" for size and graphics.

I've played it, and that doesnt change anything.
This is not just cause 2, adding every single individual room into a single worldspace would cause tremendous lag.
I never once used the word "impossible" though.
