A return to solstheim

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:12 am

I think it would be awesome if they add Solstheim on as an island off the coast (as it is right off of the coast of Skyrim). During Oblivion they talk about much turmoil going on there, Raven Rock running out of money and Nords trying to take over the whole island. It would be interesting to see Solstheim in the Skyrim timeline. Also, it would kind of be a nostalgic link between Morrowind and Skyrim (as it is physically located between Morrowind and Skyrim).

Well, I know from a lore perspective, Skyrim and Morrowind both claimed the island, though it always seemed that the Nordic presence was more pronounced, at least until Raven Rock was established, and the Imperial fort. I don't know if the island would play any role in the coming tale, however, or if it would be better off as either a modded in element, or possibly expansion, and depending on how many years TES V takes place after the events of Oblivion (and the events of Morrowind), things could be quite different indeed.

I would love to be able to do this, especially if it means we'd have to cross through a bit of mainland Morrowind to get there. The area we'd have to go through would have been decimated by the Red Year, so it would be an interesting change in scenery. And all the Dunmer who fled to Solstheim after Red Mountain erupted would have likely settled the island by now. It would be very interesting indeed.

I would like it, IMO that was one of the best things of Morrowind,

I dunno about that, Bloodmoon was sort of open ended and I went bad and killed everyone.

With all of the people who went there, wouldn't it just be a ginormous cold city-island with some forest/nature on the outside of the city walls? I mean, not everybody in Vvardenfell died.

I'd be all for it. There don't even have to be any quests there, I just want to go back.

I thoroughly enjoyed Soltheim. I still play Morrowind and Oblivion both, but of all the expansions for both, Soltheim(Bloodmoon) was my favorite. Did I even spell that right? =P

If it's in Skyrim, I don't think a re-visit to Solstheim would be necessary. Sure It would be cool to see it again, but, I think the real reason people would want to return to it is because of the Graphical Improvement since the last visit in Morrowind, they'd want to see it again basically. With Skyrim, it kinda is a re-visit. What I am trying to say is what's the point of having Solstheim, if the rest of the place looks exactly like Solstheim?

I would hope that it would be included in the base game, but if not that and if not an expansion, it's almost a sure bet that someone will mod it in.

As RsTxDeathang3L says, in Skyrim an expansion pack about Solstheim would be more of the same.

An expansion pack should add new climate, new flora, new civilization types…

Nostalgia wise ,wouldn't be more interesting, a revisit to the northern Ashlands, with nomadic ashlander tribes mounted on guars? Chitin objects, netch leather, ashlander camps…

If we got to talk to the Dunmer refugees, I suppose it would be interesting.
