In the gameplay trailer, when he is running through the wood

Post » Fri Sep 10, 2010 2:48 pm

You know those first-person view shots of running through the woods away from the dragon? Do you think those were in-game? Like is that what it would look like when we're playing the game? I thought it looked amazing, and I was always the first person to slam Skyrim's graphics. The way the camera swayed, the slight motion blur, everything just worked together and it looked very realistic.

Then again it might have been pre-rendered.. anyone know?

It's possible that it was in game, I hope so anyways, I'm even more hopeful for hands show when the character almost fell of the cliff.

The running through the woods is in-game, yes. It's a scripted scene, but the graphics and stuff that you see are the same as the game.

I'm not sure whether or not it was a dramatization for the trailer or actual implemented features. However, in my Sprint thread the general consensus was that they loved the idea of the camera sway/bobbing while sprinting, and the other amount liked the idea, but would prefer it to be a toggled feature in the options menu. Until we see actual in game play being recorded, we won't know for sure.

They confirmed the wall is a "structure" in the temple, sky haven or w/e it is :S.

From my point of view, very very very obviously in-game. It has also already been very stated that all in the trailer was in-game. Except for the shots of the wall, of course.

In-game doesn't mean much, though. It only means that it was rendered using the game engine, it could be all scripted though. And some parts obviously were scripted, like the stop at the cliff or the death of the dragon. I highly doubt that stuff will be as dynamic in the actual game.

okay so.

the only real difference between running and sprinting is sprinting is faster.

the only way to SHOW THAT IN-GAME to any noticeable degree would be to have some visual indicator that you are sprinting.

they can do this one of two ways:

1) they can have a little icon on-screen of a guy sprinting.

or

2) they can have headbob and inertia, like every first-person shooter with sprinting that's come out in the last, say, ten years.

Sure, the exact sequence of events was probably doctored. But I think it's reasonable to believe that all of the in-game footage is of stuff that could happen during gameplay.

When they have worked on dragons for 2 years, especially, it seems, concerning how they move and react in every single situation, I'd say it's very very likely it will be the same as it was in-game as in the trailer.

Anyway, I think this should close the thread. Read carefully: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/02/24/first-in-game-skyrim-trailer-released/

"First In-game Skyrim Trailer Released!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, OP. You said: "In the gameplay trailer, when he is running through the woods.."
And then ask: "Do you think those were in-game?"

Kinda breaks logic here.
