To keep the topic in the mod forum on installation problems, I thought it might be a good idea to make a single hints/spoiler thread. I'll start with the most common one in the other post.

The Black Cave Troll - Shadow Song Mine

You first meet this "unbeatable" troll before you cross the underground lake. As you approach a platform that has a lever nearby, the troll breaks out from the tunnel behind you.

1. Stand on the platform, (it looks different from the rest of the balcony area), and pull the lever. This will start moving the platform across the lake, and you think you are free.
Shortly after you see another abductee being chased by a troll, and docking on the other side of the lake, the black troll catches up to you again (it ran across on the cables above the platform).
Do not try to fight the troll! Run! Keep running in the same direction you left the platform from, an eventually you'll see a door on your right.
Enter the door, and turn left at the first corridor after the door.
Follow this corridor until you get to a gated door on your left.
Enter it, and it will lock behind you. Now you are stuck as the only other door requires a key, and the troll is on the other side of the gate.

2. Read the note on the desk that talks about black trolls taking over the mine. There is a suggestion that fire may be the only way to kill it, and that there are four fire pillars around the troll's nest that need to be lit by four torches.
To get the torches, pull the left-hand lever of the two that are on the wall near the table. A bunch of wooden logs will be released which smashes one of the wall mounted cabinets, and the four torches fall to the ground.
Walk down to the area where the torches fell, and pick up the four torches. Don't forget that you can move objects (like the wooden logs) by holding down the "z" key once your cursor is over the object you want to move.

3. By now, the troll has left the other side of the gate, and moved on to its "nest". Open the gate, and go straight ahead, following the corridor to troll's nest.
It looks like the troll has already caught fire, but you need to finish the job!
Run around the troll's nest, clicking on each of the four stone pillars that surround it. This will light them with each of the four torches.
Once all four are lit, the troll will burn to death in the middle of its nest.
Search the dead troll, and find the key to the locked door in part one of this hint.

Removing the smelly helmet - One of the quests in the outdoor shadow song mine encampment has you figuring out how to remove a securely fastened helmet from an unfortunate miner.

Part 1
Spoiler
You need soap. Ask Porrin and he will tell you to check the guarded gate for some. Once there, speak to the guard to move on to the next part


Part 2
Spoiler
You must aggravate the mages outside to get them to knock down the soap. There is a window to the right of the gate that will allow you a clear shot to a group of them. Either buy a bow and arrows from the merchant and shoot one of them, or use a scroll of fireball if you happen to have any left. Now just pick up soap bars until you get a quest update and return to the helmet guy to get your reward.

Where's the gdamn Cemetary in the biggets city of the game?? The quest where u have to perfrom the spell on a "Chosen one" so that he forgets everything about the letter and all? Still very early stages of the questline. Can somebody tell me where the cemetary is?

You must be at the wrong mine door. The one with Karick and Merre inside is definitly open.

In the initial Kim quest, where do I get my stuff back? I know that in Golden Thief's post in the first thread, he said that it's there in the castle somewhere, but I can't find it.

I turned right when I left the torture room, through the unlocked gate, fought the two guards, continued on through the halls, to the exterior door. I went through that, and fought two more guards, but now we are outside, and Kim is still telling me to get my stuff.


I've gone through it twice now, and still can't find it. :(

You are thinking too Oblivion.

You are not out of the castle yet. You are in the Froozen Chasm. In Nehrim they do not put things right by the cell you are in nor in the next room. You will find all your stuff before you exit the castle. Remember Kim talked about a secret passage out. You haven't found it yet.

Oh! I see.I didn't realize that camp contained two doors until I looked at the map and panned around. The actual puzzles so far remind me of Arx Fatalis, which is very much a good thing.

I'm stuck outside the mine. It's raining..constantly and the only quest is the stupid rat one. I've tried blocking all 3 rat holes but the guy in the mine just says I'm not done yet. I have no idea where to go from here..and I can't escape the invisible walls of the area around the mine...it's driving me crazy. Where's this guy with the helmet quest? I'll do just about anything to get out of this area and see the world..

Well personally I think the whole problem with that is that it tricks you into thinking you've exited the castle when you haven't.

When you step outside you right away think "Oh hey an exterior i'm out of the castle now! Oh s*** I forgot my stuff!" I know that's what I thought. And then you start looking for stuff that isn't there, I know I must have spent at least two hours looking for it and cheated by unlocking the gate to find it and couldn't find it there either. That and the note (about the door being locked and no one having the key) and the fact that you exit the chamber by going down a passage also tricks you into thinking that WAS the secret passage.

went to talk to keon about buying her, The first thought is "ugh, why do I have to go through this even? why can't I just pull a john Rambo on his and his henchie's rear end and just kill everyone who gets in my way?" But no they got that stupid essential character thing on them that prevents you from doing that... because the plot demands it. Then When she proposed that I make myself a slave I thought "you gotta be f***ing kidding me. Now I REALLY wanna go John Rambo on that Keon guy!! ARGH DAMN YOU OBLIVION ESSENTIAL CHARACTER FEATURE!"

You must finish this quest to move on. It teaches you to use of the z key to move objects which at other times in the game you may need to do.

To block the holes there are three stones near each hole. Place the curser over the stone so it becomes a fist then push and hold the z key down. It will act as if you are holding the stone block. Move it and drop it near the end of each tunnel where the rats are coming out. It should just pop into the hole. Sometimes you might just have to nug it with your foot to get it to slide over to be svck in the whole thus plugging it.

Yeah, did this...but he still tells me the quest isn't done. No more rats appear either. Guess I need to move them and try again...
