Advice on keyboard setting for Unnecessary Violence and Dead

Post » Fri Sep 17, 2010 8:32 am

Since UV 2 will arrive soon, and maybe Deadly Reflex 6, I want to be prepared with the best key selection possible, so I will be able to use them effectively, because until now, because of poor key selection I almost never use dodge, and very rarely use shield bash, and throw.

What keys do you use for these mods, and even for vanilla Obl keys, like casting?

My usual set up is somewhat like this:

R: Spell cast
Q: DR Shield bash
Left Alt: DR Dodge
T: UV Throw weapon
Left Mouse: attack
Middle Mouse: Block
Right Mouse: UV attack
Space: Jump
E: Activate
Z: Grab
F: Draw/sheath weapon
Left Control: Journal

I find that with this setup, I can easily use any special attack/dodge/spell while moving any direction.
Also, having right mouse as uv attack, means I and throw left and right attacks easily.
If I had a multi button mouse I would move the UV attack to a button close to my thumb, and turn right mouse into block. but alas, only a standard optical mouse for me at the moment.

Nice set up :D . Thank you for sharing it.

I think I am gonna use some of the keys that you use.

Lucky I bough a laser mouse with 7 buttons yesterday and now I will put next to my thumb cast and block, and leave left click for attack and right click for the UV attack. Also I think I will put dodge as R maybe. Not so sure about that though...

I'm surprised you got right click working for the UV attack. Generally I've found that the system still tries to block anyway - or at least various people have reported as much to me. I have a 9-button mouse so it's never really been too much of an issue for me.

It seems that right click works fine as UV attack once you set block at another button. If you leave block as right click it does seem that the system still tries to block and attack in the same time, getting a little confused.

BTW When will UV 2 approximately be launched? :D A few weeks from now? Months? Dayyys? :D . I've seen that OBSE is close to coming out of beta, and Nifse is in the first beta so out of alpha. I am asking because I mostly stoped playing waiting for UV2 :) .
And thank you for all you hard work in making the great UV! :foodndrink:

Well I've literally just gone back to work after having some time off suffering from RSI (and thus had a few weeks away from modding as well). I have a lot of stuff to catch up on, but be assured that UVII is right there on the top of my list. I'm going to be away for the weekend spending time with my family, but I hope to get a couple of days to make the necessary finalising, and updates to work with the NifSE beta some time next week. Then I just have to write a novel manual and I'll be able to release a beta.

So worry not, it'll be with you very soon.
