How is Skooma Made?

Post » Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:58 pm

I've decided to create a mod for my next khajiit character, and I'm wondering, how exactly is skooma made? Is it created with standard alchemy tools? Are skooma pipes involved? Is there something completely different? Are certain bottles required?

I'm using Morrowind, so certain items already in-game may be helpful.

Yes, I've found mods, but they're not to my taste.

Thanks for any feedback.

Skooma is refined moon sugar. Skooma pipes are used to smoke skooma.

Basically Moon sugar is a combination of Cocain/opium, and Skooma is a combination of Heroin and Crack. It is one substance that can be used as either for the same results of

Damage Intelligence
Drain Agility
Fortify Speed and Strength

Or

Fortify Speed
Dispel
Drain Endurance
Drain Luck

I like to note that the mortal avatar of Tiber Septim carries Moon sugar on him, perhaps hinting to some unsoldierly like conduct during the Elswyr campaign.

Yes and no...in Morrowind there was a specific piece of drug paraphernalia that was used to manufacture Skooma, but when you equipped it to your character it filled the same role as the Alembic that alchemists use.

In theory, an Alembic could be used to manufacture Skooma since a Skooma Pipe can be used in place of an Alembic in normal Alchemy.

There is a mod called "Druglord of Vvardenfell".

http://elderscrolls.filefront.com/file/Vvardenfell_Druglord;56177

It's good. Maybe a tad unrealistic sometimes, and once you've finished it you end up with far more cash than you can ever spend, but I quite enjoyed it. If I remember correctly, Skooma is made from moon sugar and sujamma. I think diamonds were also used somehow... The bottles were made out of ebony.

It also adds addiction. I forgot it was there, and with one character I wanted to make some good time across the Telvanni Isles and decided to use some skooma. I promptly became addicted. I made my way to the St Olms Temple, where I was expecting to find some help from the support group there, but I soon realised that you could only kick it by waiting long enough, become weaker and weaker in the process. So I camped out in the little room there, dumped all my stuff so I could still move around, and slept a lot, made sure I got enough food and water, and sometimes wandered out to look at the sunset/sunrise.

Fantastic, really. How many games let you kick a drug habit?

I did it again, totally accidentally: I spent the next week or so sleeping in a cave somewhere, and ended up dying from dehydration...

snip

There's an in-game book already posted how it's made. It's pretty much like the process of alchemy, except the only ingredients are moon sugar and fresh nightshade

its not ingame, its a Forum Scholar's Guild thing; and most of them are just covering up gaps in the lore until a Dev fixes them. (I said "most", but the rest of them are actually very interesting.)

Where is nightshade likely to be farmed? I wouldn't think only elswyr, because a farmer can farm nightshade anywhere, and not get in trouble, because, technically, he's not involved in drugs.

Nightshade isn't farmed; it is a highly poisonous substance that is exterminated wherever it is found. The elswyr-cats can do with it what they wish.

I don't think nightshade is farmed, but there is plenty of it in Cyrodiil, especially in the West Weald region, near the Elsweyr and Valenwood borders. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Nightshade

To anyone who knows: was Bethesda ecologically correct in their placement of nightshade? It's really important that I know.

I used to get so excited, when I saw a swathe of the stuff growing. Then I'd have fantasies of who I was going to poison. Good times.

imagine there's an 'm' at the end of 'who.' The second one.

THAT'S NOT AN IN-GAME BOOK!!!!
It is a Forum Scholar's Guild Piece: basically a Fan-Fic written by somebody extremely familiar wit the Lore (although some of them are actually conjectures or summaries of established lore, and those are interesting)

that map suggests that nightshade would be in abundance in Valenwood and Eslwyr, considering it's mostly at thier borders. Would that be correct?

Would the poisonous swamps of Black Marsh have a lot of nightshade floating around? Seems the ideal place for it.

I agree that nightshade would be in Valenwood and Elsweyr(especially Elsweyr), but as for Black Marsh, I'm not sure. Since Black Marsh is such an alien place(and out of the playable races, only Argonians can even survive there), I doubt nightshade(which seems to grow in areas with fertile soil) would be able to survive there, but I don't know about that either way. There isn't any nightshade in Blackwood, but since Black Marsh is very different from Blackwood(at least deep in), or any other place in Tamriel, for that matter, that I'm not sure what to expect in Black Marsh. I'm wondering if we ever will get to visit Black Marsh in a game, but if we were to, we couldn't get to deep into that province without being an Argonian, so I doubt Black Marsh's mysteries will be revealed any time soon. The best we can hope for is someone or a book specifically mentioning nightshade being in Black Marsh(in future games not in Black Marsh), which, considering how small of a topic it is, I am not expecting in the near future, either. Anyway, I'm assuming there isn't much nightshade in Black Marsh, but rather far more poisonous and strange plants. There was nightshade in the Shivering Isles, though, but we could at least visit that realm without dying(and without being an Argonian) and Sheogorath could have anything in his realm that he wanted(even if it defied Elder Scrolls logic), as that is his specialty. Black Marsh is a mystery.

as far as i know skooma is fermented moon sugar you probably could make it in standard alchemy equpment but i think you should make some patchwork equipment to make skooma
