Skyrim and Consoles

Post » Sat Sep 18, 2010 7:12 am

I have a PS3, a 360 and a fairly good gaming PC. I prefer FPS on PC, because a mouse is much more precise, but for RPGs, like Skyrim I really want to play while I'm half asleep laying on the couch. So I think I'll probs get Skyrim on 360, but I have concerns for how the 360 will handle the awesome engine and improved graphics. Can anyone give me any info about both the 360 and PS3 versions? Anything is appreciated, stuff like resolution, Frame rate, render distances, difference between 360 and PS3 specs. I think my friends are getting it on 360 so I want to get it on the same platform, but if the performance is going to be that horrible I'll get it on PS3(assuming the PS3 is more powerful? is it?)

Why not just hook up your PC to the TV, use the 360 controller, and sit on your couch?

Where have you heard that the PS3 can handle it better?

Also, Todd does all of the game testing on the 360, and I prefer the controller :)

but before this turns into a PS3 vs Xbox 360 thread, get it for the PC dude. Better graphics and you can download mods for it ;)

As for info on the game for the console, it will have to have at least 30 fps because those are Microsoft's standards.

Ps3 can technically run the game better but it will most likely not because this game is focused on 360. I for one will get the ps3 version simply because i hate 360 controllers. Its too early to tell but expect a repeat of fallout 3. 360 will handle the game better and will most likely get exclusive timed dlc,

I wish I could play it on PC, but alas my computer svcks(core2quad @ 2.5, 8gb ram, Geforce GT 220). So... I wonder which platform I should get it for.

Because, it is a gaming PC, but the rest of my family need to use it, I was hoping to get info on the frame rate and stuff, not obvious stuff

Well apparently the game devs preffered console is 360 and you get a minimum of 30 fps, so thats good enough for me. ( thanks to the poster above me)

Well, I'll give you EXACTLY what we know now!

Framerate: UNKNOWN
Drawing distance: UNKNOWN
Textures resolution: UNKNOWN (but of course the PC will get higher resolution ones)

Seriously though, This kinda stuff is something you know AFTER the release, not 9 months before it

chances are console version will be 30 fps and pc will be 60 fps. probably also a noticeable difference in load times and slight difference in textures.

i say don't worry about it. get it for the 360 because the anistrophic filtering svcks for the ps3 and for your situation it sounds like it would be more accesible on a console (and more comfortable). but yeah PCs are better in terms of performance providing that you have the beefy specs and mods. but thats about it. sure mods add replay value, but what good is that if you have to give yourself hemroids hunched over in a computer chair straining your eyes on a monitor a foot away from your face?

but if you COULD hook up the pc to your tv, i'd say thats your best option.

I can't wait for Steam's "Big Picture" mode.

Seems like a personal problem. I don't have to hunch, sit 1 foot away, or get strain/hemroids.

O ok thanks, I thought if I bought it for 360 it would like an 8 bit game getting 1 frame per hour (exageration)

But he is right. We know nothing about the required specs. We will continue to know nothing until we are told something. Also, subverting wordfilters can get you muted or banned, I suggest you edit your post.

The only thing that svcks in your setup is the graphics card.
Most games today barely use 2 proccessing cores, and you have a quad core man!
Don't waste its power.
Buy a 100 to 150 dollars video card and you will be able to play all the games that xbox360 and ps3 can play, at the same level of detail or even better.
