1st Person Camera Movement

Post » Sun Sep 19, 2010 11:56 pm

In the Gameplay video of Skyrim, at 1:37 the Player Character is spinning, if we were to do this in 1st Person, would the camera move with the characters head too? or just stay in one position facing the Enemy?

Probably the same as it was in Oblivion. The camera moves but not spins.

I hope we spin, in 1st person you should be seeing through the eyes, anything else is really just 3rd person seen from an angle just in front of the character, not through the character itself.

As the framerate can be a heavy restrict on this, I think optional feels best. I'd go for the spin if I could, but I fear I wouldn't be able to.

might be a settable option, you've seen the Crysis 2 Demo options ? they just have 3 options, Gamer, Advanced, hardcoe (system specs) and define everytihng from that, extra features like this should just be implemented if you go from advanced options to eyecandy options :)

i was thinking about this too . . . id really like for cameras to spin whenever the character does a spin or a roll, but im not expecting it because too many crybabies will complain how they felt dizzy or something . . . some of them even felt sick when the guy in the trailer was sprinting and bobbing his head left and right

I have a smallrelated concern. When the character was running in the trailer, it was rather bumpy. In moderation, this can be immersive, but too much too often can cause headaches or nausea I've found. I just hope it's only when you're sprinting that it shakes around that much, or that that wasn't final gameplay.

i have a friend who has an issue with moving cameras. he cant even watch movies like blair witch or that one movie where new york was attacked by that giant argonian. according to him its with how head bobbing motion is portrayed. if its natural looking and "in sync" with how your actually running then it doesnt bother him. but if its unnatural and not timed with the running then he says it affects him. so it appears its not the motion but the timing of the motion itself that is big factor.
