[Relz] Toggleable Quantity Prompt v3.1.1

Post » Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:20 am

I have a newer issue with the alchemy menu now, but I am not sure if this could have been caused by TQP:

After creating potions I often see some "Name Potion" potions without effect, the effects popup is blank. I checked further and eventually found out that if there is just one ingredient left while creating potions, the button can be clicked one more time, so the last potion (without name and effect) is from one ingredient only. Alchemy skill is ~50. I have not seen this in previous games.

I have gotten those "name potions" too and I had them even before I started using TQP. I'm not exactly sure what causes them but seems to be an old problem, if a minor one.

As of this moment, the total combined downloads from TESNexus, PES, and Elricm stands at 10,239. :ahhh: :shocking:

This ain't exactly shabby, but plenty of people still haven't downloaded the updated version.

Also, Elricm still isn't updated to the newest version. It seems I need to send off another email to the admins over there...fortunately, it has only had 27 downloads from that location.

When using TQP with OBSE 18, I get the message that TQP requires OBSE 0016 or greater ;a problem I did not have when using OBSE 16. I've searched the fora, the readme, and the web, and I'm still not able to pin down a potential cause for this? Suggestions? My current installation has little more than FCOM base, UL, and Better Cities, so I'd be surprised if it's a conflict there...

Thanks!

I haven't had any problems with TQP and OBSE18b4 or 5. Not sure how TQP could not detect the current OBSE version.
Not the most pleasant suggestion, but maybe do a TQP uninstall, clean save and TQP reinstall.

Any issues with the latest release? Or feature requests? I assume not, other than The Wayfarer's little oddity.

I plan on revisiting all of my released mods sometime soon, so now would be a good time to speak up.

May be more of an issue with me than with the mod, so let me know if I just missed reading something.

Dropping items out of your inventory requires using the shift key (if you lack room to drag it out), but the shift key is also the "full stack" key. Did I miss a way to drop a complete stack of something without getting the quantity prompt? I probably did miss it.

You missed reading something under the Details section :shocking:

The shift key is the "full stack" key in the barter screen, but not the inventory. The shift key already has the drop function in the inventory, so I had to choose a different modifier key. So, in the inventory, the alt key is the "full stack" key. To drop a full stack you would press alt-shift and click the stack.

Remember though, you can change all of the modifier keys in-game through the menu. As I mention at the bottom of the Details section, I like to set the left shift key to drop items by the stack, and leave the right shift key alone. So, to drop a stack I just hold the left shift key and nothing else. If I want to drop a set amount of items from the stack, I use the right shift key by itself. If I want to drop a single item, I press ctrl-shift (still works with either shift key in this setup).

Just FYI:

I had the same problem as The Wayfarer with TQP and with Supreme Magicka.

Problem automagically disappeared after I used the Reset BSA Timestamps function in OBMM to resolve a completely separate issue. (It's available in the Archive Invalidation dialog box.)

Now TQP and other OBSE-dependent mods are working fine.

Hey War,

Listen, I have run into a strange issue, and I really have no idea what introduced it. For some reason, TQP is stuck in "stack"mode, and I can't seem to be able to do anything to un-stick it (un-stick? sure, why not?)

Anyway, I tried un-installing it, making a clean save, and then re-installing, but even after that it won't let me pick a quantity. Interestingly, I see the quantity slider menu ever so briefly, as if I were using the stack hotkey... it flashes and then immediately disappears.

I have made a couple of changes since the last time I know for certain TQP was working properly, but nothing terribly drastic. The changes were 1) installing Phitt's Phighting Phixes, 2) installing Fran's OBSE menu plugin, and 3) updating Enhanced Economy. I have gone back and taken out Fran's OBSE menu, just in case it was interfering somehow, but the rest remains untouched.

And FWIW, I don't think there's anything wrong with TQP... I think I have just screwed something up! What I am wondering is, do you have any idea what that might be? I've had a long couple of days, so I'm probably over-looking something obvious... I just can't see it right now.

Here's my LO. I appreciate any suggestions you might have... thanks!

Other than Menu Escape which has its own version of TQP, there shouldn't be any conflicting plugin type mods. Some UI mods could conflict, but TQP should complain and show a messagebox in those cases. Out of the new mods, the only possible suspect is Enhanced Economy since it tries to parse the confirmation message box. I know TheNiceOne was concerned at one point that TQP may auto-confirm that message too quickly for EE to work, so possibly there was something in his newest release that's conflicting...I would be surprised if that was the case though since TheNiceOne isn't exactly a sloppy modder. Far from it.

If you've done a clean save, I don't know what to tell you. That should fix anything wrt TQP since it is entirely script based. Maybe if you open TQP's config menu, and change the default action around you'll see new behavior. Otherwise, start removing the new mods you've added one by one until TQP is working again so that you can find the culprit.

...and also changes the text - if the new Real Values feature is enabled. So I of course start thinking that EE interfers in a way that it should not. What EE does is to read the confirmation message in much the same way a TQP, but not only to confirm that it is the confirmation message, but also to store the number of items, and to change the part of the text that says gold amount (put in the decimal, non-rounded value). But the text that is written back uses the string settings that TQP checks, so all of QTP's checks should still get their correct match, and it worked fine when I tested it (TQP was the second mod I ever installed, and its been there since :)).

If anything, I would think that if EE breaks anything, it would be to fool TQP into believing that the messagebox is not the confirmation message box, and thus prevent it from auto-closing it, not making it work when it shouldn't. But I've tried to be careful to have the two mods work well together.

vegtabill, you could of course try to disable EE, or at least the Real Values feature, to see that it is not the reason for your troubles.

This sounds great, gets a bit tedious when filling up my alchemy chest to have to confirm stacks all the time. Gonna try it out.

@War:

Thanks very much for the input. I am truly baffled, but still have not had a chance to look at it with rested eyes, so perhaps something will jump out at me when I get home this evening. I didn't really think Fran's OBSE menu had anything to do with it, but since it's not really something I need, I took it out just in case. Unfortunately, luck was not with me! The only way I can get the quantity prompt to come up now is by completely disabling TQP in my LO. If I can get to the bottom of it I will post back here and let you know.

@theNiceOne:

I have to admit, the second culprit I suspected was EE! But, as you know, I have several recent versions of it now, three of which I know worked with TQP. I tried two of them last night (4.2, and the debug version of 4.2), but had the same results. So I don't know for sure, but it's looking to me like it is not a conflict between TQP and EE.

Thanks a ton for replying. I'll get in there tonight and see what I can see. I still think I've done something stupid... I just can't figure out what it was yet.

EDIT: @ChillWill: It is great mod! Whatever issue I'm having is no reflection on this gem... get it! You will be happy you did! :goodjob:

This mod is great, and I appreciate it. One thing I'm unsure about though is whether it works for when I'm picking up items I've dropped. I've set it to auto stack both items and purchases, and it works when I am dropping a bunch of the same item. When I pick the group of items up, however, the prompt window appears asking me how many items I want to pick up. Any advice on whether this is a different setting I must make?

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, peppergomez. I somehow missed your post. TQP doesn't (currently) affect picking up stacks of dropped items. Stacks of items in containers, yes. Stacks of items laying out in the world, no.

I'm planning a quick update this weekend to support Nehrim (and any other TC), so I'll see what I can do about your request.

Are there any other issues or feature requests? I never heard back from vegtabill, so I'll assume he solved his problem on his own. This next release of TQP will quite likely be the last update it gets.
