So, I've been having this problem for a while now - never really bothered me much, but since I have the opportunity I might aswell ask for some assistance.
The latest update for New Vegas on XBL, not sure which one exactly but I do know that it's roughly 4Mb and adds the various faction armours and such to some of the safehouses. Everytime I start up New Vegas I have to do the same update everytime, unless it's the only game I've played since I last updated it.
For example: If I play any other game, then go to play New Vegas I have to update it again.
If New Vegas is the only game I've played since I last did an update like this, then it runs without prompting for an update.

Any advice?

You're gonna get better help if this was in the 360 platform problems section. I suggest you could click on the report button and report your thread to the mods and ask them to move it for you. I'm sure they'd be happy to as they probably will when they find this anyway.
