[REQ] Spiked Buckler

Post » Thu Sep 30, 2010 5:20 pm

Have you gotten around to fixing the clipping issue on the bucklers? :o

Well, yes I have. I first thought of going around and change the animations a bit, but that'd've messed things really bad :D So I took an alternative, a little something to fix the problem... I think I could've done it better, but this has to do for now. See http://a.imageshack.us/img295/29/screenshot266.jpg, http://a.imageshack.us/img17/911/screenshot267i.jpg and http://a.imageshack.us/img188/1773/screenshot268i.jpg. That is currently on the "other" buckler, I will do the same thing to the Spiked one when I can.

Now I'd like more requests on this kind of shields, as well as (preferable, but not necessary) reference pictures to make MORE MORE MORE! :D Iiihihihihii!

EDIT: Maybe I've had enough drinks, don't you think? :D

Pfft, they're totally doable :D Even by me :D I'll see to it when I can, current workload consists of two mods (other one will be released, other one is a "request" one). I was asking for reference images for buckler-type shields, but I think it's pretty much the same if there are a few non-bucklers hitchhiking :D

EDIT: Not to mention that I am composing songs for that "other" mod (the one that'll be released) :D

I like the spikey one.
The one you made from scratch looks a teensy warped and wobbly.

Yes, well, the spiked one shares the glitch where the fingers go through the shield :D
And I didn't make the from scratch, as it is easier to just edit an existing one. I tried to lift the ends symmetrically (as seen in one of the pictures; it is supposed to present like a hardened part near the armline :D).

I wonder if the characters' fingers still clip through the shield if you're using TGND body - as it comes with smaller hands/feet.
I'll try it out. :]

Good idea :D The current unpublished version of the shield is fingerclipping-proofed though :D It still looks quite damp anyway xD

Instead of editing vanilla content and trying to get the result you want, why not make new models?, It'll be easier to make something you want rather than trying to edit a vanilla model the way you want.

Okay, this is a nitpick but I've got to put it out there. The shield which was historically called a "buckler" is held in the fist, facing forward rather than laying across the arm. At some point one of the D&D developers misinterpreted the name and assumed it was strapped to the forearm like a broad flanged bracer, leaving the hand free; but a few moments' thought about physics should show why such a shield has never existed!

Now, from the screenshots I glanced at, no such mistake was made here. It's a perfectly functional small shield. Just shouldn't be called a buckler. ;)

I know that, but in my case, I just made a small shield and "absorbed" the name "Buckler" for it, as the OP had requested :D Nothing big, really. D&D is the source of all evil, lol :D
