Unofficial Minecraft Thread 42

Oh it is my turn , um ok I will work something small on the map. As soon as it is here.

Sorry, I meant to take my go but I never managed it because my computer started screwing around. Hopefully I'll be able to play again by June 20th, but I've got to send my computer back so I can't make any promises, only this time I'll try and post something if I can't do it.

No worries, I'm just glad to hear what's going on.

Yes, I know I've been slacking posting that Share map status, but I've been busy - plus, as I've said, I'm interested in letting the players involved take their own initiative with uploading and editing on time rather than being the Share map's overseer/babysitter. I already know I'll have scant little time to do much for my own turn, though I'll put some effort into it.

I can post the schedule whenever you're too busy, we go through these threads quickly so it's understandable that you don't have time to post the schedule in each one.

Ratwar should've uploaded somewhere in this thread. Also I think the greatness should be removed from the rotation since he really didn't make any posts during his time. Oh, don't forget to remove me to, I'll be gone for a while.

The link to his save is in my http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1192770-unofficial-minecraft-thread-42/page__view__findpost__p__17755786. You technically only have a few hours left on your turn but I wont be home to start my turn for another ~9 hours (midnight PST) so you can keep the map for a little while longer and upload it then.

Like what happened with dudeordudet, I think it was unfair to the people who could have substituted for him that The Greatness didn't post about his missing his turn. But I really don't want another bout of drama that results in The Greatness deciding to leave the rotation forever like dudeordudet did. In his post I just quoted he said he'll try and post before his next turn, so I think that the next time his turn comes around, if his turn starts and he hasn't already posted earlier with his status ("I can play" or "I can't play"), then the turn should immediately be up for grabs. And if the turn passes and he never bothered to post, then he should definitely be barred from the rotation for one turn. That seems like a less severe/dramatic solution I think...

Okay, what the hell. Every single torch in the Freehold Merc Guild has been taken: There's not a single one left. Creepers spawned inside one of our towers and blew me to hell as a result. Who decided it would be a good idea to rob us of all our light? >_>

EDIT: SImpson... If you just disbanded this guild with me still inside that castle, and /walled it off in every conceivable way for me to get out/, I am going to destroy you. Without torches in that place, monsters spawned EVERYWHERE, and as a result, I just lost a good portion of everything that I had. A bow, a full stack of 64 arrows, two full stacks of glass, several full stacks of stone, several cooked chops, a stack of torches, among numerous other things. You took the arrows off the top of the towers that I had worked hard to make, took every cursed torch so that I couldn't even light the areas I was fighting desperately in to retrieve my things, and even took the LEVERS off the inside of the fort so that I couldn't get back out easily when I fought my way up from the basemant to lose my things anyway!

What possible, conceivable reason could you have had to do something like that!?! Argh, I am indescribably furious right now.

You were still inside? Crap, I really hadn't considered that you would be inside still. I was going to turn the castle into a scary, dangerous dungeon. I guess I did. I'll replace anything you lost. I took everything so that nobody else could take it.

I'll give back anything I took out. Although there was only one stack of arrows on the top.

I abandoned the castle because Keywork knew all it's secrets, and he's with the enemy. We need to start over somewhere else.

Eh, don't worry about it. My fury passed, and I quickly replaced everything I had with better stuff anyway. I stumbled onto a cavern that surprisingly hadn't been found yet, and came out with some iron tools and a bit of armor. So I would have discarded that stuff anyway. The arrows I also replaced, after finding a bunch of chickens to slaughter... So no loss in the end.

As for starting elsewhere, though, do you have any ideas? I've been helping Skooma get his own fort ready for the war, but now I need to turn attention to a new fort to construct again. xD

Anyone have an issue with the newest server version? I upgraded my local server to 1.6.4 and it doesn't seem to be loading correctly in multiplayer. The character bounces in the air for quite a long time and the bottom of the map starts loading and none of the terrain. I tried to not spawn a Nether on my server and it did not seem to help, I even set view distance down to only 3. Any ideas how to get it working again?

Hey Skooma I made a skin of "The Skooma Man" why? Because I was bored, don't judge me. I know it's not the highest quality but it's as good as my skin making skills get.

No idea but I had the same issue and my server was on my computer, so it wasn't a connection thing lol.

Anybody test out hatches? I was messing around with them and I couldn't get them to be on the top of the side of the block.

1.6 breaks SMP it seems. It makes SMP use up 100% of your CPU, thus making the game unplayable in multiplayer.

Not for me.

I'm on a high-end computer though, could be adding more stress that I haven't noticed.

The game is more or less broken though, soooo many really serious bugs.

I'm running a GTX470, AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz, and 8GB of RAM. I shouldn't have an issue.

The bugs are taking their revenge big time because Notch took down so many of their friends!

ugghh, I wish I could do multiplayer.

I kinda wish I waited/made a back up before getting latest update, its not so bad. but I thought it would have made the game faster due to bugs getting fixed and maybe less lag on my sys.

Yeah I had a lot of lag when I started out on 1.6 too. But it all left after like, 5 minutes of gameplay and now it feels smoother almost.

GTX460, Intel i5 2500K Quad Core 3.3GHz and 4GB of RAM here. But I'm not sure if Minecraft actually uses more then one core.

I haven't ran into many bugs prior to updating to 1.6 and I have to say I've had a couple of bugs that have just made it really difficult to continue playing this game.

For instance, my track keeps spawning minecarts on it. IT WONT STOP! I have around 25 minecarts.

By "keep the map a little while longer" I didn't mean "Take an entire day off of my turn." So sorry Fishy but I'm starting my turn now with Ratwar's save.

The only "fix" I could find was disable the Nether and lower the view distance setting in the server.properties file but that did not help at all for me.
