Television Nowadays

I bloody hate this saying. It's a really huge insult to human creativity.

I can't stand it either. People think Salvador Dali (my favorite artist) did drugs to come up with the ideas for his paintings, even though he has said himself that he has never taken psychoactives of any sort.
Some people just can't accept other people's ways of thinking.

wow... if anything, this thread is making me feel very old, and I am not THAT old :) , with people talking about watching cartoons as kids in the 90's...

My favorite cartoon of all time was a Japanese anime show called 8th Man. Yeah, look that up :)
During my childhood, Western cartoons took a back seat to Japanese anime and other fantasy Japanese shows like Ultraman, Ultra 7, Giant Robot, Ms Comet, etc.

Watch "regular show." Best damn thing I've seen in toons since the 90s when they got away with a lot of [censored].

Well, until it became the new JB, when they made the little girl older and added the nerd character. Once they were in, the show svcked up the lowest levels of Hell.

Anymore I don't bother with Cartoon network anymore having grown bored and unterested in their lineup anymore. I do however remember fondly of cartoons that arn't quite as old as many of the ones mentioned here but quite liked shows such as The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly dog, Ed Edd and Eddy among a few others that I have enjoyed a lot as a child.

Of course there is some cartoons out there being made that is actually good like a certain one that has gained quite a bit of popularity on the internet as I'm sure some of you can guess. For the most part however many of the shows they make anymore does not interest me like Chowder, Flabjack, and have no interest in trying out Adventure Time or the Regular Show mostly because of being a bit too random (or insane) for my tastes. Some of that I suspect is remembering too fondly of past shows but everynow and then a gem is made that goes beyond the typical drevel given to children with a great example such as Avatar the last Airbender.

:o I just watched an episode of Johnny Bravo that was written by Seth Macfarlane. Apparently he did a few of them. Who knew?

Adventure Time is one of the only decent cartoons today. The rest are just terrible. I hate Chowder.

I don't do drugs. I am drugs.
- Attributed to Salvador Dali

And really, that's what is going on in those minds. They already are so creative that they wouldn't need to do drugs to unlock anything. Can you imagine somebody with drugged motions and thoughts writing, painting, working coherently? It's close to impossible.

This is why Regular Show is so damn great. Oh, and 80's montages. They really like those.

any one else finding out that tv just svcks in general? My parents got rid of Dish network because they got 150 channels full of crap. I don't even care either. Movies are coming out on dvd so fast now that I don't even need tv anymore. And if I watch cartoons, it is the older shows that they put on instant netflix, or I just order my favorite seasons off of netflix. I mean ya there is some good shows still on, but not enough to waste my money on Direct tv or Dish Network.

Basically yeah. My parents and sister are obsessed with tv. If I want to watch Family Guy or even South Park, I can just watch over the internet.

TV is pointless now in my eyes, really no point due to streaming online and netflix.

HAHAHA I loved Johnny Bravo when I was kid. Johnny Bravo was really funny he's always flirting with woman and getting slapped and thrown around by them. Johnny Bravo taught me how to be a ladies man LOL.

Yeah some of these new kids shows are really weird, or maybe cartoons have always been weird and as we get older they are hard to watch. As kids we probably didn't notice the cartoons we watched as being weird because our brains weren't fully developed. I have a hard time watching cartoons now unless they're advlt oriented like Family Guy or South Park. I still catch myself watching the Simpsons. Well Simpsons is a family show geared for audiences of all ages. I never was really a fan of anime stuff. I watched some looney toons episodes recently, and I saw this episode that had a Cold War reference, which I probably didn't get when I was kid. I saw this episode with Captian Duck and Marvin Martian and they are both trying to claim planet X and then they go into an arms race with each other and blow up the planet, this was kind of like what everybody feared of the cold war. All the Looney Toon episodes they show on the kids show are really geared towards kids. Looney Toons actually made alot of WWII propaganda videos in the 40's.

I was a kid in the 90's a lot of a cartoons on were re-runs from the 80's
Like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-JHfXVlkik, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtIu61s2PDo&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_uYJySWlco are a few that I can think of. Well speed racer was and johnny quest made in 67 I suppose that isn't from the 80's but I saw a lot of re-runs of that show also. Well there was some Johnny Quest remakes in the 80's and 90's.

And then there was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpXM9bj-WPU made in 1992, I think this show was secretly government propaganda.

As far as kids cartoons that I can remember that were really weird when I was growing up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46FgUhbsJKc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuBDfWOm__4

Ren and Stimpy was pretty twisted from what I remember and I still remember this song! I think Ren and Stimpy got banned because of drug references or something I don't remember the story but it got banned. No wonder why I'm so twisted :P And Ahh real monsters, after watching the intro this show was really creepy I can't believed I watched this when I was kid.

Anybody around my age remember the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqGQyMF5a_0 craze? The toys were really popular I remember my parents had a hard time finding them because they were sold out everywhere!

I think really every generation is going to saw our TV shows and cartoons are better than what kids watch today. I mean really as advlts its hard to watch cartoons so maybe thats why they seem awful. I mean when I go back and watch these intros of cartoon I watched as a kid on youtube they seem really bad to me and its hard to believe I was so into these shows as a kid.

Yeah, they do drugs...

reminds me of Clerks, what with the two employees working in some small shop and the black and white, and the drugs.

I would rather watch this show than the actual Regular Show.

It's even worse than I thought..
