Armor and Weapons

Okay no offense but the armor and weapons in Oblivion looked kinda weird. I hope they make armor and weapons look better. Any ideas on looks or anything?

That's really a matter of personal taste honestly. I liked the armor in Oblivion. Well, most of it anyway.

I wonder how they are going to do the Dwemer armor. Will it be Morrowind style, which was basically make-shift armor made from centurions and such. Oblivion style, which actually looked like something the Dwemer would have worn. Or both! Something completely different? Ahh!!!!! :ahhh:

I am hoping that the selection won't be so fantasy cliche: ie, the big spikey red demony weapons. at least as long as one of the top tier weapons has a humble. I always thought the OB daedric weapons did not look like they would do the most damage, particularly the swords, they looked crazy dull and useless. I would have liked a high end sword that looked clean and simple like the fine steel sword. when you think about it, since when has fantasy power weapons like excaliber or sting looked supped up and rediculious. they were simple but powerful. most dangerous things look harmless ;)

Agreed. I always used Umbra, purely because it was the only high level sword with a simple, clean design. Furthermore, nearly all the helmets in Oblivion were atrocious.

YES! I so want the most powerful weapon in the game enchanted already be a simple fine sword like the steel one or something. But the ones we can smith or buy be like a steel sword as well, ones we can enchant.

I kind of hope to see some retro Nordic Armors from Morrowind and Bloodmoon make an appearance (albeit in a modernized form). I was always partial to the Bear and Wolf armors from Solstheim.

I'd just like to see a lot more variety. It never seemed like I had too many weapons options. It would also be nice if using enchanted weapons would just drain some of your mana or something instead of needing batteries (stupid soul gems).

Hell I'd just be happy to be able to recolor armor a bit, I think I read somewhere about decals too? Not sure if that's confirmed or not but could be cool if added tastefully. I hate when I'm a Paladin and find badass armor that looks black and evil or when I'm a Shadow Knight and run around in brilliant shining plate armor. Makes me not even want to wear them. Basically I hope there is armor at each stage to suit a wide range of character archetypes rather then just... Well Daedric is strongest so... Gotta wear Daedric.

This.
Plus, closed face helmets are a must. I wore maadness armor because of that reason.

Yeah, we need at lease 2 different armor types per type, per "level".
I mean, we should get something that's equal to Daedric, or close to it, but that looks more pure.
Same thing for Steel: we need a darker-looking one.

I think Goldbrand was way sicker looking, and Umbra looked cooler in Morrowind. So I went with GB, I loved how the hilt was almost as long as the blade.

I also think most of the gear looked sick, besides the helmets they were kind of weak. The glass was ok, daedric svcked I used the Amber helmet. It looked the coolest on my guy.

Probably lots of fur and stuff on the armor since they're up north, though it's definitely no where near as cold in Skyrim as it has been where I'm from these past few weeks.

Anyway, to be honest Morrowind had some cooler looking designs for armor and weapons overall, stuff that went kind of out there (the Vivec Guards for example), than Oblivion imo. But it had to do with the setting, Oblivion was in Cyrodiil and they had a sort of traditional thing going on with the lore. You can expect Skyrim to have more focus on the Nord style of weaponry and armor (similar to Bloodmoon) but there will still be the old classics like Ebony and Glass, hopefully with some tweaks.

I'd like a bigger and more useful and multi-purpose variety of light armor, then heavy armor which actually "works" like Heavy Armor.

Heavy armor should be heavy, cumbersome and expensive as **** but it should provide great protection, and should -*gasp* actually deflect blows instead of just roll off some of the damage.

Goldbrand and ebony blade were also high level with a simple design, and I personally prefer katanas to longswords, so they were my choice. I agree about the helmets!

I personally hope that they will have MUCH more armor and weapons in Skyrim compared to Oblivion.

I felt that it was too little choice in Oblivion, good thing we have mods on PC (love it, ty Bethesda).

Also I hope they throw in some cool loot like unique weapons and armors in the dungeons, make it worth our while, it is always extra fun discovering unique loot in a previously unknown cave or ruin/fort.
There was very little of that in Oblivion, only Elven armor was in a cave/ruin if I'm not mistaken.
