Graphic Errors in Towns

Post » Tue Oct 19, 2010 11:43 pm

hy all,

i have a problem, that from time to time i visit a city, there are grahic errors on houses. i hope this problem is public and some1 can help me solve it.
i had made some screenshots to show ya, what i mean.

e.g. here is a layer of ugly surface with a low resolution other in front of the normal house.

another example. here only particular the "new" graphic:

sometimes - which is really anoying i cant even see the doors
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6970/screenshot2n.jpg

cause i know the house, i know, that there has to be an door.. and it is still there, behind that new layer. here the previousscreen, after i run into that new layer and there u can see the normal entrance:

i dont know, if thats a mod-related problem or maybe causing from the unofficial patches. i cant remember having that problem, when i played oblivion a few years ago, as i had just installed the official content.

as information for u, my installing-order was..
Vanilla Oblivion
Shivering Isles
(official 1.2.416 patch if i rem right)
DLC such as the Orrery
then the unofficial patches
then any other mods (mod manager, darnified ui, oblvion xp, MiniMap HUD Element, Book Tracker)

and here a picture of my ob mod manager, that u can see my loading order:

the problems i described dont happen every time i visit a city. i would guess every 5 times i go in a city.
if u need more information, feel free to ask. hope some1 can say me, what i had done wrong, while installing or dunno what ever..

thx in advance, cheers

ps. i forgot to mention the oblivion script extender. that i have installed too and start ablivion with the obse_loader.exe

I think this is one of those kinda 'random' glitches that no one has solved yet. Try taking out MiniMap HUD. I'll try to dig up the thread I think a saw relating to it.

I've no insights on this, having experienced it first-hand for the first time only three days ago, after a solid year and half of steady play. For me it was the inlay portions of the Imperial City outer wall, including where the Talos entrance should have been. Really freaked me out! I followed the wall to the Market District entrance. Half way there normal graphics resumed (but not for the already messed up section). After taking care of business I exited via Talos (inside walls were fine), immediately turned around to face the entrance, and VOILA, all's well.

That looks like the usual town interiors in the Tamriel Worldspace. There are two copies of each city, one with low-res content to see over the walls from a distance, and another higher-res version that you enter through the city gates in a separate city worldspace. Open Cities moves the high-res content into the Tamriel wordspace and replaces the gates (and a whole lot more) so that you're still in the Tamriel worldspace when you enter the city. That means that doors have to link interiors to the right worldspace or you can emerge into the wrong copy of the city. I'd suspect one of those few mods you're running is OC-aware and mistakenly thinks you're using that, except that none of them seems to be that kind of mod.

Yep, definitely an LOD issue. I'd go and run http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15781, see if that helps.

Since none of the official DLCs touch city exteriors, that leaves only one logical suspect for the cause - the minimap mod. I seriously doubt that's OC-aware, and even if it was, the closed worldspaces don't contain the LOD houses at all. This is beyond the usual random glitch where the LOD fails to load out when you get close. There's no LOD to begin with.

finally i deleted the minimap-mod. i guess u were right, that it conflicted with the xp mod, cos although the leveling system was touched by it. there were no caps for spending abilitypoints.
i dont wanna disrespect the guy, who made that minimap-mod, but i cant advise it, if u wanna use the oblivion xp mod too. i dont know, if it would conflict with other leveling mods. the minimap is a nice gimmick to have. but it wasnt matured (e.g. no fog of war) and so not that big deal to delete it. (even if i lost some items, which i had stored in chests after removing that mod :banghead: )

if some1 got a better solution for including a minimap, feel free to link it :)

thx to all, who helped me here :celebration:
