NHL Thread III

I am wondering if Vancouver hopes Boston doesn't beat Tampa. The reason I say this, maybe Vancouver can't beat original six teams. It seems as of late original six teams are starting to win the stanely cup. Montreal about 15 or 20 years ago, then Detriot, New York won it over 10 years ago, and now Chicago last year. So now it could be Boston and then hopefully in 5 years time my beloved Leafs.

So since Vancouver lost to the Rangers an orginal six team, they could have a curse and could loose to the Bruins then.

Just saying. :P

Game 7 it is, no matter I can't see either team beating the Canucks.

It won't matter to me if it's the Lightning or Bruins, but I just think a Bruins/Canucks series would be interesting given neither have won a Cup in a god awful long time.

I still think that Tampa's speed and skill is a better matchup for the Canucks, but Boston is probably a more interesting storyline.

Boston has a pretty good shot at winning. They have the depth to pass by Tampa, but unless the Lucic Krejci Horton (sometimes Lucic Krejci Recchi) line becomes a force there's no way they'd get by Vancouver.

I'm pretty excited for Game 7 tonight! I don't really care who wins. I just want to see a good game tonight.

Side Note: I may be out of contact all weekend.

Well, I'll be jumping on the Bruins bandwagon for the finals. And I look forward to being hated by all my friends and all the people at the bar.

Bruins!!!! :D

This is great. I think our system/depth is really going to take us places. I'm not going to make any predictions, but I'm very excited!!!!

Also, great PR for UVM. I live in VT (don't go to UVM) and go to UVM games, and its great to see St. Louis and Thomas get all the attention they've been getting. But I guess that's old news. Now it's all about the Canucks!

Too excited!

I'm pretty sure in this Bruins/Canucks series the Bruins are the underdogs.

The main reason I enjoyed this game is THE REFS STAYED THE [censored] OUT. No penalties called.

I love it when the refs don't interfere with a game.

Please bugger off for the finals too.

I think that if the Bruins had more than 5 powerplay goals in the entire playoffs (2 of those coming on 5 on 3s mind you) the Bruins would not be such underdogs. But they are awful on the powerplay, and that is going to cost them, especially against Luongo. However, what they do have working for them, as Guy Boucher said after game 7, great depth. 4 good (not great) lines that have very solid two-way skills. And I'm loving how great the Chara-Seidenberg defensive pair has been working these playoffs. For the most part, they eliminated Lacavalier in that series, and I'm hopeful that they can do the same to either the Sedin twins or Kessler in the Cup Final.

And if they can do that, I don't see any reason why the Bruins can't win this series. Thomas can outplay Luongo, although its a good matchup, the Bruins have a great defense, and a balanced offense. Everyone picked the Flyers to win, and everyone also picked the Lightning to upset the Bruins, and Boston just showed too much depth, balance, and resilience to let that happen.

Both teams are going to be really excited to be there, duh, but considering the novelty to both teams, I feel that they're going to be extra excited, (as opposed to the coolness of say, Detroit), which might make for a really open series, which I'm not sure the Bruins could win. Anyway, should be fun to watch.

Knocking on wood...Bruins in 7.

I'm not sure the Bruins are huge underdogs... seen comparisons to the Predators, but Boston was 5th in the league in scoring... Nashville was 23rd. It's not like these guys weren't scoring all year, and Tim Thomas is the best when he's on his game. Luongo has stolen one game for the Canucks but he's looked soft in a few games and he lets in a dumb goal or two every game.

Canucks in 6.

I don't know if I think Malhotra will ACTUALLY come back for the finals, but it must be a big morale boost to the entire team to see him skating again.

They should give him some limited skate time AT LEAST in this series. His recovery is remarkable.
