When can we expect a new update?

Post » Fri Oct 22, 2010 12:17 pm

I have experienced incredible number of errors in my copy even with the second patch installed. One of many errors is that the game keeps freezing and and puts the sound into a loop, sometimes the sound keeps going but the the game itself freezes. Another error I have discovered is texture issues, sometimes the characters lose their details and I'm running the game on ultra or high. Then I can also pick up the classic error of the fps dropping randomly at some point. They also seem to have failed wen it's about menus, for example in the Lucky 38 in the presidential suite I can't upgrade the suite because I can't even hit the accept button. Also near the beginning of the game when you are to make the healing powder I have to hit 'A' on the keyboard to accept... same thing in the beginning when using the SPECIAL stats machine.

I'm now uninstalling the game to wait for the next update that might fix all the things because I don't think it's even good for my machine to run this game in this shape. Now to my question, I know it's hard to give a ETA for a patch but when can we expect a new update?

Thanks

I've received my game the week it was released.

But unfortunately I'm holding off installing it because of posts like the above. (and because I'm putting off dealing with Steam).

Thanks for the report. It helps to know whether or not it is stable. Sounds like it was released with a bunch of problems, which is unfortunate. I really hope future Bethesda (Obsidian) games are more stable. I tried Oblivion and Fallout 3 right after release, and while there were a few major bugs, the games were very playable. Doesn't sound like the case for New Vegas, which is disappointing.

I'm not returning the game in the hopes that sometimes, soon, patches will be released to make it playable. Because the concept seems great.

The update will come, as soon as they are done counting their caps.

I have a Win 7 64-bit system and I have some minor bug yes, but nothing special. Hence I think give the game a try right now and maybe you will not encounter the big bugs...

I would wait. They are working on the bugs per Gstaff, who is with the Bethesda Team:

The teams at Obsidian and Bethesda have been working on this one and it'll be resolved in an update for the game. More details when I've got them...

I have a worse system than yours and I get like 30-60 fps all the time. The ONLY place I dont is in The Wrangler, which I think they forgot to optimize or something because it gets horribly glitchy in there. The patch they already released fixed so many bugs. I think you guys need to lower your standards to match the gaming market of today. Plus, at least they are saying their working on it. Most game companies wont patch a game even once, and once they make money off of it, ignore its existance entirely. (EA, Pandemic, Ubisoft, Activision, etc)

Why couldn't they make Fallout New Vegas a DLC for Fallout 3 with the same settings and engines instead of creating a full new game with 'different' settings for an outdated engine... I like how Fallout 3 looks like and works and we are not experiencing any major issues with it. It wouldn't be impossible for them if they can create DLC's such as The Pitt and Point Lookout.

Doh I'm just dreamtalking, I will not play the game until they relese a new update, I don't want to lose my love to this game because of this damn issues.

I bought the ps3 Fallout NV had a gamebreaking issue and was forced to start over.

I started over but this time I bought Pc version hoping for more stability and have now encountered the corrupt saves that so many are experiencing >.<

lmao I love this game but its no where near ready for release. But I tell you what when they patch it and fix this I will be right back on playing this game is incredible.

Though i will agree fallout 3 didnt have no where near as many major bugs as Fallout NV is having, cause maybe a couple major bugs with some little ones aint bad but Fallout NV has alot of gamebreakers at the moment.

Just hope the devs get us some info soon lol

I am going to have to say other then the horrible performance issues which are bypassed by adding the d3d9.dll and removing non standard Windows Audio codecs, I have exp very few issues with the games playability.

The major issue I have had is CTD, or just game freeze with error in background. It took me a week to figure out it was MY system causing 90% of the problems with the game. Since then the game has performed as well as FO3.

Uninstalling the game waiting for a patch is a bit insane, it's not like it's going to blow up your machine in a non-patched state lol.

lol, first two patch didn't fix anything, just give you 4 packs of cheap items to keep you waiting, typical.

I returned my copy a couple of weeks ago. I am considering getting the xbox 360 version though, much later. Maybe when GOTY comes out or something, or maybe just a used copy of Fallout:NV for the 360.

I'm so fed up with this game. When I first started playing, the issues were annoying but bearable. However, as you progress, it only gets worse. The devs should be embarrassed by the condition that this game was in at release, as well as it's current state. I can't imagine how much worse it was before the patch. If I could get a refund, I would do it without hesitation.

Yes, I'm entering the same reply for every issue on this forum that I'm also experiencing.
