Vault 3 - Aba Daba Honeymoon (TL;DR provided)

Hey guys,
while wondering the wasteland I cam across "Vault 3". As some of you may know, it's inhabited by fiends. Upon entering the vault one of the fiends starts a conversation with you, if your speech skill is high enough you can get in, otherwise you have to leave or kill the fiends.

Once I had my speech high enough I decided to revisit the vault, taking an opportunity to explore it and potentially get a quest from it. However, this time the fiend did not talk to me. Instead all the fiends held their guns at me and didn't shoot until I got too close. Although it was a nuisance, I decided to leave it.

My problem now is I was doing the quest "Aba Daba Honeymoon" and as a requirement of the quest I must deliver drugs to the fiend called "Motorhead" who is inside Vault 3. Even with the Great Kahn uniform on the conversation is not triggered and I am shot at if I enter too far.

So basically, the conversation isn't triggering which is preventing me from completing the quest. I've used my basic knowledge of console commands to try fix it however it didn't resolve the issue.

TL;DR Conversation isn't triggering a second time, preventing me from completing a quest. I want to know how I can start the conversation. If you think you can help, please read the rest of the text.

This happened to me too.

I was unwilling to simply fail the quest, so I decided to go back to a save before I had got to Vault 3. That save was a very long time ago.

Something similar happened to me as well. The only way I fixed it was going into the GECK and grabbing the script to finish that part of the quest and manual entering the lines into the console. Unfortunately I'm at work and can't seem to locate the code I used.

I recommend saving before attempting this since I'm guessing this is the correct script.


This will complete the objective and Set the next Objective to talk to Diana.
player.removeitem vrrcvault3drugs 1
setObjectiveCompleted 00140C3B 30 1
setObjectiveDisplayed 00140C3B 40 1

If this doesn't work let me know.

If I understand your suggestion properly, I'd much rather fully complete the quest. Both for self-satisfaction and the ability to explore more. Thanks for the suggestion anyway :)

You can't talk to Motor-Runner because you can't speak to him, when you speak to him normally he'd let you turn in the quest. All this script does is turn the item into him bypassing the need to speak to him (which you can't). When this happened to me I had done 9 hours of stuff since I had made him hostile, so this was my alternative to going back 9 hours.

So after using this script I still won't be able to explore the vault without being attacked by the Fiends, will I? It's certainly an option and I appreciate the suggestion, however this would be a last resort. I'd still like to hear some other suggestions before I make a decision.

I apologise for the bump but I am still having this issue and would really appreciate a solution. Does anybody else have a suggestion that I could use or a method which you have used to fix the issue?

Same problem here, would rather not resort to console commands due to it locking some achievements or so I have heard. It must stem from the person at the front, right now I am hoping they all respawn and will attempt it again without talking to Motor-Runner before hand. I cleared it out but left Motor alive and didn't speak to him earlier in the game, now that I have the Aba Daba task I tried to talk to him but I just get the dialogue from the NCR wanting him dead. Here is hoping some fix is made.

I had a problem with conversation not triggering with a different quest. Making the quest my "active" quest solved the problem.

It was definitely my active quest, still waiting for respawn to try and see if person at front is back and sneak through without slaughtering.
