Having read the Seven Fights of the Aldudagga and being able to descry very little meaning, can someone explain to me what the function of the Kalpa is? I understand it's Alduin (or Auri-el) consuming the world, but I don't really understand its purpose, or what its other facets are. Can someone please explain?

Its a measure of time, from beginning to end to beginning again.

I'd say it's more than a measurement of time, because time itself is re-created within a Kalpa.
