BRINK the over-hyped

Post » Sun Oct 24, 2010 9:12 am

WE and we alone over-hype anything and everything, including this new FPS.
We also can't say SD over-hyped it,they did the normal marketing every company does, they gave their interviews, show their gameplay no?

This has consequences, many guys are dissapointed seeing nothing extremely new besides SMART and staff like that.
Thus placing a not so appealing review and other guys answering aggresively.

I don't see a reason for this at all, again, stop and think...what this game really offers?
For me?Firstly i don't care about graphics, secondly is team-oriented/kills don't matter and helping teamates rewards more/protected spawn/SMART system/no airstrikes/no leaderboards and the ones in end of match are with higher XP.
Thats all i want,i don't expect anything more than this so i doubt i'll be dissapointed in the 13th.

We must, seriously, understand that the forums have http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1081354-important-forum-information/,there is NO reason whatsoever to be offended if someone's saying something negative about Brink.
Don't answer to him if u can't control yourself, just let it go,what's the point of starting a flaming war, anything that can't be discussed can't be productive,if it can't be productive it helps no one at all.

Chill out and enjoy,it's just a game.

I understand what you saying, and even agree. I may have overhyped to my friends comparing it to the game they are purchasing instead, but I don't expect perfection, hell, I don't even expect it to have many of the things I was promised, the online will probably cause most of my anger. But, I believe I am justified in my pre-order and I'm going to enjoy the game... and mock my friends for not buying it.

I fully expect MANY people to be disappointed with Brink. Why? Because they'll look up some screenshots and maybe even a vid or two and then buy it with their pre-conceived notions of what the game will play like. Some will expect COD, some will expect Borderlands, and others will expect something else.

Whenever a company tries to take a new approach, there are going to be many turned off by it. The fact that this game doesn't focus on lone wolves, doesn't focus on K/D, and actually won't LET you do well without teamwork will only compound that for a lot of people.

But does that bother me? Not in the least. I could care less if most don't like it. I only care about how I enjoy it.

I read through your post twice and can't say I understand what your point is, though my best interpretation is that this forum and its members are overhyping the game. My response to this is simple: Of course we are. We are gamers so interested in this game that we took the time to come online and discuss it in an open dialogue with others of our mindset before the title even launches. It's only natural we expect a lot. Now, I usually like to stay grounded in reality when it actually comes to playing games I've looked forward to, so when Brink launches tommorrow I'll try to judge it fairly. Hoping its as good as it seems isn't a weakness, the only problem surfaces when people go into play with their minds set on what they "know" the game is and are shocked to find it drastically alien. It's the primary reason I know there's going to be a huge fracture in the Duke Nukem fanbase once Forever launches: You don't go through a decade of development hell without expectations crawling to insane and completely unreasonable heights.

I know exactly how it should work, should look, and should sound, so the only way I can possibly be disappointed is if I was outright lied to by the developers.

No ignorant, incendiary reviews are going to have even the slightest effect on my expectations. Best to simply ignore them.

Nope,my primary point is that we must be more polite when answering to someone who think negative about Brink.
Secondly, well secondly i explain,no need to repeat anything i think.

Sorry about that theni can't translate evrything i think in Greek to English in proper manor i guess.

As i said though,a productive discussion offers something to all, flaming is not and who's "yelling" more doesn't prove i am right about a subject.

Secondly i explained how i see Brink, thats all.

OP, you are wrong! Brink will be the best game ever. The first perfect game the holy grail. Overhyping? Pfff

But at the end of the day your pointed out a very good thing: Don′t feed the trolls! And Brink just looks great.

I have to say I lost control and sort of lashed out at the bad reviews. Its their opinion and everything and I accept that. The only thing that gets to me is being so judgemental about such little things. I think the people that will that are over hyped will like the game and continue on playing it. However the people that don't put much time in research of the game, don't know much about it and its not their type of game will be disappointed and thats a sad thing. I wish this game would appeal to everyone. That would be great. Look at Homefront, that game was a mess to A LOT of people. I love it however. But that just shows how judgemental people are.

Couldn't agree more m8 :)
And this more "The only thing that gets to me is being so judgemental about such little things."

But again,my primary reason for this and what i want to say is "be polite",keep your logic, don't get carried away and flaming if someone's negative about the game.

If you have a set idea of how the game should be played, and how each class should work, then you are going to be dissapointed in some areas.

But if you are open minded, then there's only one way to be let down, and that's if the Devs inflate their game's image, as mad hatter said.

Only one way to find out if we really are over-hyping it, and thats to wait until tomorrow.

I will admit. I over hype things a lot. I look back at those games and laugh at myself for doing so.

But it's just how I'll react to new video games now-a-days. Probably will continue to act this way to major video games that appeal to me in the future.

I must take advantage of this ignorance I have with hyping favorable video games. Who knows might happen in the future? Arm might get chopped off, or my finger get busted and I can't play video games. Things like that. I really don't want to think of the very day I CAN'T play video games. I'm a pretty middle to young gamer (21 years old), so I have a long way to go. But I still have nightmares of losing the bliss I have when I come home from work.

Anywho, back on topic. I'm looking at my pre-order form and I smile from all the hype I have in my body. But i'm also willing to accept any doubts I find and or hear from friends.
