PS3 on the BRINK.....of an Indefinite Hiatus.

This came out this morning. Seems to be the most legitimate http://blogs.wsj.com/japanrealtime/2011/05/09/sony-europe-free-playstation-games-for-the-masses/ thus far, with no mention of "may 31st". . .

No PSN still? Oh well, I'm not a six year old so I guess I can wait longer.

Hey, how long have some of us been on here waiting just for Brink to come out? I think we can wait a little bit longer to take it online. Besides, this will give me time anyway to beat the campaign, do some challenges, and learn to play the game so when I go online I don't embarrass myself.

We get some free stuff, we get PS+ so we get discounts on stuff in the Store, and everything will be alright.

No reason to jump ship and, heck, we know that Sony will probably do what it can in the future to ensure that we are happy.

Anyone who gives up on it is impatient (or had information on there and is very angry). I'm neither of those. I still haven't played Portal 2's co-op but I ended up not wanting to play it as much anymore. At least Brink has bots (that may svck). Besides, PSN is free and we're getting two (hopefully decent games like inFamous and Warhawk) and a month of Playstation Plus. I'm sure Sony will be kissing our asses for a while after all this too. A few weeks without PSN is definitely worth it. I just hope they catch the culprit and the hackers back off (yeah right).

I already own both of those games.

This has actually been a concern of mine since the PSN was taken down after Sony admitted that an intruder had broken into the network. I've been pretty ticked off at Sony. Not because my personal information was stolen (I've had it taken multiple times, and I don't fear identity theft), but because the PSN is down. I feel that they are potentially damaging the community for games like KZ3, Socom, Battlefield, and now possibly Brink. I almost bought an Xbox, but after careful contemplation, decided not to. I also noticed that the Xbox 360 pre-orders are three times as much as the PS3. I don't find myself playing against bots all of the time. Ultimately, my best friend of 17 years recently acquired a PS3, and he lives over 200 miles away from me. So when PSN returns, Brink will provide us a way to hang out, even if we are battling bots co-op.

Based on what I read, on this forum and others, it appears that most active players plan to return to the PSN once it is up an running. I just want Brink on the PS3 to have an active an healthy community. This is my number one fear, as I am almost positive that Brink's gameplay will not disappoint.

My fear is if when psn goes back up will they hack it asap. If that did happen and sony handles it just like this one then I will jump ships.

Im pretty sure that this whole maintenance revolves around taking measures against future attacks. so if people try to hack again, well lets just say sony will be on high alert so it wont be easy.

Thanks for being one of the few gamers who is actually ok with it being down. Ive been playing Bioshock 1 and 2, Valkyrie Chronicles, FF 8 and 9, and lots of Wii goldeneye 007.

lol, my ps3 mainly gets used for online though, apart from fifa but its a mess offline this year

im a bit gutted thoughm, as i was just about to unlock some stuff on killzone 3. when you are in the higher ranks it takes ages to unlock stuff any more lol so it was a pain to not unlock them

then, after psn went down my steam corrupted on PC and it took them 5 days to get that sorted! arghhhhh. luckily lots of football on TV lately to keep me interested :) plus some decorating :(

I currently have only one game for my PS3...SOCOM 4 and it now looks like that game will be traded in towards my purchase of BRINK for the 360. I won't give up on PSN however.....I enjoy their exclusive games.

The 31st is the deadline to have psn back up, doesn't mean they cant have it up b4 then.

I was one of those nerds that had otheros installed and was annoyed when they took it away. I already decided that the ps3 was my last Sony console. I wasn't going go let my expensive purchase gather dust though so I did buy little big planet 2 and killzone 3 afterwards. So while my opinion of Sony is less than already low, it svcks my personal data is compromised. The one good thing is that Sony is getting a lesson in humility and I am getting two free games out of Sony's pain. I got brink on PC anyway.

Fact is, these guys won't stop until Sony is destroyed or they are caught. So its very possible this will not be the end of the attacks. Maybe our data might be more secure, but ddos attacks will continue. If you are annoyed easily it might be time to look elsewhere for online gaming.

Guess o just pissed off everyone but oh well, we will see if I am right soon enough.

The bottom line is that if you mess with the Japanese for too long it will backfire. They are already pissed about the tsunami, all thats left now is for Japan to send an elite team of ninjas and samurai to handle the hackers, which are most likely fat college boys at Harvard doing their senior research paper on how to hack global infrastructure.

Been a Playstation fan since the PS1 came out. I'm not gunna give up because of a couple weeks without it. Gave me time to go back and play single player over again and earn more trophies and earn money to buy more games like Uncharted 3 when it comes out way later on ;) Brink will consume me with its single player long enough for the network to come up anyways and be loaded when im online finally.

PS3 didnt do anything wrong. These idots hackers are the ones to blame. In an attempt hurt sony they dont understand that they are only harming the people they "claim" they are looking out for. This is off the topic but me and my bro were talking and we think whoever did it probably doesnt have a ps3 anyway or they'd be messing themselves up as well which would be very idiotic

Played the MP beta for that... it was somewhat enjoyable, just not for full retail price. Especially considering it was basically just MAG 2... but I'll probably wind up getting it when it drops in price. Is campaign really THAT bad?
