Which faction will mature gamers join?

Post » Tue Oct 26, 2010 10:54 pm

I am curious to find out which faction is going to draw more mature gamers. If you are over 21 which faction are you going to play? I know there are a lot of gamers out there that are like I am who automatically mute the chatty teen/pre-teen lobby trash talkers. I'm all for trash talk but let's be honest... no one over the age of 21 cares to engage in trash talk with a child.

I have a feeling that the young cats will be settling in with the Resistance, but we will see.

EDIT
Alright... perhaps I should have chosen another word for players older than 21. When I said "mature" my meaning was mature in age. As in ": of, relating to, or being an older advlt" - Merrium-Webster

We can all concede that there are plenty of immature people above the age of 21. However generational gaps exist and contribute to interaction. I often have conversations beyond a game with people that I play with and I have no interest in hearing about Prom or what mom is cooking for dinner.

Right... but I am only interested in the response of post-teen gamers, not everyone.

I think a lot people of different ages (teens, young advlts etc) will be on both faction no matter what and besides any randoms you encounter in a party or match you won't be able to communicate with any random since they'll be muted automatically. Only the people on your friends list can communicate with each other.

too bad age=/= maturity, if you think it does than you need to rethink your logic. I find most people who are older think they are the godsend to video games and pick on me for being 15. I don't provoke them, they just yell at me and tell me to shut up for no reason, while I am just trying to talk to them. The age of a gamer does not equal their maturity at all. I've met 9 year olds on games like Halo, CoD and even gears that were more mature than 20 year olds, who were screaming and cussing for no reason.

quite a bit over 21 and I can relate with the Resistance more since I am not happy with what my real life federal government is doing. I'm guessing the OP thought younger people would tend to be more rebellious which is most often true but not in all cases, not anymore.

I see this thread as being very bad. Most of guys over 20 are louder and worst than the teens purely because they think age = maturity.

This is the exact reason I am picking resistance too. I am too not happy with the U.S government therefore I am going to play resistance.

From the start - I always says Security, Why? Cause ive always been a good person...Like to think of myself as the "Helping people" type.

But as the game came closer and closer, i started to get a weary feeling for the security (Almost like they are the threat)...From further vids, The security come off to me as "loose cannons", butcher types.

A cutscene on the train - the way one of them kinda sniggers, glares and sways his gun up while talking to his partner, they felt corrupt.

Then seeing more resistance vids, They were the poor, the strugglers- trying to out survive the security, and the ark.

It almost feels like there purpose is just, and that is why i have decided to become - Resistance.

Light Operative at your command.

Forgot to mention i was 25 - So i actually think more "maturer" types will play what they understand and feel more towards...Which is a just path & righteousness, which i believe to be The Resistance

It doesn't matter that much anyway. As players don't pick what team they are on for life, they just end up where space is needed for the most part. One might have a favorite side, but finding out which side will have older gamers would be impossible because the players on resistance will not always be on resistance and vice-versa.

I turned 46 on Saturday. I had my time fighting the man. The man won and now I'm a slave to the man. My primary goal in life was to achieve world domination but seeing as how that is pretty much never going to happen for me in real life, I think I'll be Security for the most part (only because my wife thinks I look dead sixy in a uniform).

But then again if my friends play Resistance.....

Replace Security with Alliance, and replace Resistance with Hord.

Woah, we have a World of Warcraft thread here!

Back on topic: I'm going to go Security, and I'm a 21 year old male. I go for the more good" side not for the "maturity" but for the underdog factor. There is going to be a lot of younger people joining the Security due to the "good cop" feel, and there is going to be the majority of mature to some very young people on the resistance for that "Rebel, bad ass" feel.

Maybe mature people will join alllia-- errr Security because of the over-abundance of young people getting into the hype of the Resistance because of the rebel factor and cool looking clothes. With that many young people, they may not grasp a factor of completing the mission then looking cool while playing it as a CoD shooter. I'm not saying that is EVERY person, but there will be a majority of them when the game is released worldwide.

Side note: We can change factions. Why not pass up the option to know the enemy routes and points of references? It's a good idea to just play both. But hey, that is just my own opinion.

I'm 39(40 in a few days and hangin on for dear life!) and I plan on playing Security for two reasons:

They look better imo.

I think their side of the story will be more compelling then the tried and true "we're the underdog" story of the Resistance.

This is silly, since the factions both are designed to be equally correct in their stances, whether you're "mature" or not will cause no difference.
