Feb 22nd was the last update on a patch, and it looked like it was available for steam, Europe, and PS3. I'm on Xbox, usually the lucky 'first' on everything, and am wondering when, oh when will we ever see the promised land. I still can't finish many quests, because they're so buggy, and I think everyone knows about the bizarre behavior problems you sometimes see.

Can we get an update, please, more than a month old?

The update is still being worked on, but we hope to have more information soon. I don't have an exact date, but I'd estimate it will be at least a few more weeks.

I hope we'll get a good amount of fixes soon, especially for the severe lag in the game. It makes it hard to finish the game off on any story branch because when you go to the Dam, you lag so badly that it destroys save files.

I know games are complex and all that, but the game has some really game breaking issues that are unacceptable. It never should have been rushed out like it was, all this rushing games out to a tight deadline is highly damaging.

Can you please give an update as to WHY it's going to be a few more weeks? Or are you just going to vanish again for another month and return to say the same thing?

Also, please stop using the word "soon." Be straight with us already.

Well I just finished Dead Money with my level 35 character and I notice that I'm getting alot of lag in Freeside and just outside of Vegas (around Gun Runners area). I think I will park that character and start another one for now until the update comes. I would hate to corrupt my saves now that I've progressed so far (still have a lot to do for the main quest, damn you interesting side-quests).

But on topic, seriously a couple more weeks. This just shows that this game should have been delayed to hammer all the bugs out. And also not make the DLC over 4 months apart.

If they knew these bugs where there with the main game, and had released patches to EVERY other platform, why did they release more buggy content? Seems to me that all the devs. on Dead Money would have been put to better use getting the patch taken care of to fix the main game first.... just one mans opinion though I guess.

That's the Million Dollar Question. This game had a lot of hype going in, fans of Fallout 1&2 looking for the same stories but with the Fallout 3 controls and Fallout 3 fans looking for the next fix until Fallout 4, they should have tested the crap out of it and made sure it was stable. It should have been delayed.

I recently watched the 6 dev diaries on the Fallout website. I wonder what Matthew Perry thinks about New Vegas and all it's bugs. I heard he's a huge Fallout 3 fan and was on the View of all places talking about it. I'm sure he was pumped being in the New Vegas but was probably disappointed with how buggy and glitchy the game was on release.

I am grateful that they are at least supporting this more than they did with Fallout 3, that game still needs a lot of patches, especially with the PS3 version + DLC.

Well here's hoping that the next patch does more than allow the game to work with DLC add-ons and actually does something for the better.

I love the Fallout series, and even with the bugs 3 had, I still had a great time playing it, and all the DLC for it. New Vegas at this point is so frustratingly unplayable at points it makes me wonder if a class action lawsuit isn't needed to light a fire under the collective @#$%^ of all companies involved. Its like buying a new car and finding out that the computer in the car doesn't work right, and the company spends more time making a new car and ignores the owners of the broken ones they sold.

I understand that it takes time to get the patches ported for each platform its on, but again, why release more broken content and not fix the main game. That's why I refuse to buy Dead Money. It'd be more entertaining to flush that money down the toilet.

Well, part of it is bound to be Microsoft . . . they are extremely strict about patches that are released on the 360. The certification process that they use usually takes a couple of weeks at a minimum, and that's if the patch works fine . . . heaven forbid that they see something that they don't like, at which point they kick it back to the developer and the process starts again.

Not saying that it's all MS's fault, but that is always an issue with a 360 patch.

I thought MS originally said they didn't want Xbox Live to be used to patch games, as games for 360 should be complete and not need patching.
If they'd kept to that, NV wouldn't have been released yet!

Well, ideally, I'm sure that's true . . . history seems to confirm that that plan hasn't panned out quite the way that they intended. :D

Whether it was MS intent for patches to be released across live or not is a moot point now, because so many games have released patches across live. I know it may take MS a few weeks to approve or kick it back to the devs. but where are the updates to the players as to what is going on with it? Even if they came on here once every other week or so and told us, hey it got kicked back to us again, or 'hey MS has it now, waiting for them to decide on it'. Something.. anything, would be nice at this point. Instead we are being left in the dark.

I had to sign up here because i am frustrated trying to play this game! I lost 3 hours of game time because of a freeze up. Every time the game gets played we are guarented to have at least one lock up an hour. I do not know if the rest of you have to reboot the xbox after a freeze, but it is the only way to get the system to work again. Without a doubt the buggiest game i have ever had, period! Fallout 3 was a joy, Vegas is a players nightmare!

My followers were stuck at Cesar's place, because the have to wait outside the tent, and i made a run for it to escape without being killed... Now that i changed the weapon load i want to go back and wipe out the legion, get rex and cass back, but the game will freeze every time i try to fast travel there! No choice but to reload an older game, 3 hours down the drain!

For anyone playing this game PLAN your game saves and do it often!

I am sure the freezing is an old topic, but i feel a little better venting now!

Not sure why this wasn't posted here in the support forums: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1125221-please-read-from-the-teams-at-obsidian-and-bethesda/page__view__findpost__p__17456918

Hi everyone,

On behalf of all of the hard-working teams at Bethesda and Obsidian, I’d like to give you an update what we’ve been working on these past few months.

Well, here’s what happened: our next DLC release (announcement coming very soon, we promise) has been complete while we worked on getting a patch ready for you all. We didn’t want to just release more DLC before we had a patch that would improve the overall New Vegas experience.

The good news, is that we do have such a patch and it’s been handed off to the necessary platform owners. It should be released in the next couple of weeks on 360, PS3 and PC (can’t be more specific than that, I’m afraid, although PC will almost certainly get it first).

So what’s in that patch? First and foremost, optimizations and stability improvements. While there are bug fixes, our core focus was on improving stability and performance. We worked directly with first party platform owners to identify issues, and we have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes.

We know we’re not done yet. There’s still more work to do, and we’ll be monitoring the forums very carefully following the release of this patch, looking for more issues. We do have another update planned further down the line.

So I’d like to apologize for the radio silence. Hopefully you’ll be pleased with the enormous amount of work we’ve put into this update over the last few months, and will enjoy the rest of our DLC releases. We have some pretty cool stuff coming soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks,
Jason Bergman

Heh, the release of updates for this game reminds me of the old promises that Aventurine made when they were developing Darkfall. It was always, "soon". the next update will be "soon", the beta will be "soon", the game will be released "soon".

Yeah, "soon" translated into 7 years of BS, silence and otherwise emptiness.

So, yeah, we'll have the update "Soon".

Bethesda, seriously, NEVER let Obsidian make another fallout game. They are NOT as good as they used to be when they were Black Isle. New Vegas has been proof enough of that. The laggly load screens, the constant framrate drops for no reason, the glitch quests, the constant crashes, all proof Obsidian svcks. Fallout 3 wasnt this bad, but then again, Fallout 3 was made entirely by a Bethesda development team.

Jason just emailed me an update to share:

The Fallout: New Vegas PS3 patch was supposed to go out at midnight tonight in SCEA countries. Until PSN comes back, we won't know exactly when it will be live. PC users will still get the patch today, and we expect 360 to be live by the end of the week.

Hey I don't know why you guys are complaining here. The patch just dropped and it broke the effin game. First it says it won't load certain items because the DLC isn't detected. Then it just says screw it and doesn't bother to load at all. I would have much rather waited for a patch that actually fixes something over one that turns the disc into an effin coaster.
