Loading issues

Out of the many issues I'm having with New Vegas, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. I usually play New Vegas for a long while (say > 5hrs.); I've noticed the longer I play, the longer the load sequence. As an example, I'll fast travel from one far end of the map to the other far extreme of the map. It doesn't take awhole of time to finish loading; one or two repetitions of the roulette wheel. The time for loading begins to increase after about 2 hrs of gameplay and more so afterwards. After awhile it could take 2-3 minutes before the loading sequence completed. Sometimes it actually freezes my system because it takes so long to finish loading.

I have a major issue so many loading sequences. I mean sometime I only go ten steps and have to load another area again and again. As personal request, cut the loading sequencs to a bear minimum. I'm an absolute fan of spending half of my gameplay just wait to load. I've played the Crackdown and Just Cause series and I've experienced very little loading times (very good draw lines). Going from side to the map to the other takes loading, but that is acceptable. I mean there are areas which require a loading time and I then ask, "Really?". If you can ask a "Really?" question, don't code a loading sequence. I don't have the training (I hope you have) required to code, but I'm going to take a guess and ask if there's a more resource requirement from an increase in loading sequences. If that is the case, then I can imagine the more loading a system is forced to, the more chances it will foul up If my ignorance preceeds me, please enlighten me. I will say I do think the draw lines have improved over FO3.

Oh and I have a funny glitch (I think), whenever I make my way to Lake Mead near Carville Bay, there's a Cazadore stuck submerged in the water. It can't fly out of the water, yet crawls and flies underwater as if it was on the ground's surface. It can't attack me while I'm swimming. It's funny to see it flap its wings through the whole water column. There are other somewhat funny glitches I've seen, but with the serious system crashing glitches, I'm wondering if my pre-order purchase of Rage and TES V is a good idea.

I don't want to bash your work, but some of these issues we all are having give me concern to question if the problem is ineptitude, laziness, a combination of both, or the game engine (Gamebryo) needs to be scrapped or re-worked, something. I do enjoy the stories of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. I mean "Better dead than Red" was funny to while finishing the story. I enjoy the exploration, the idea of your action do affect your surroundings, being able to immerce myself in world for awhile ( is a reason I spend so much time in one sitting). When you get it correctly, your work is great. But with these issues really make you seem other than great. I hope the real issue is that you're being rushed, if so, please demand the proper time needed to ensure proper step are taken to secure a good reputation. We, gamers, will be appreciative and reward your efforts.

I hope this has been constructive and not insolent since you are the developing the product and we participate in your work by giving you our time and attention. I hope to continue anticipating how I'll enjoy your work in the coming future. These issues must be addressed if my participation is to continue. I'm glad I don't work there as I wouldn't be in the company's employ for long; for what I lack in tact, I make up for being up-front. So please be more up-front if the need is there. If you need our (the gamers) support, reach out to us. Thank you for your time reviewing this. >>>.This is hope that the id Tech 5 engine pans out.

A quick solution to the longer load times would be to dashboard, then boot FONV back up. It's what I've found works when nothing else will.

THANK YOU! I can't beleive I've never thought of this.

Back on topic: I experience this "phenomenon" since the time I started playing and always blamed it on my 360. Though, it only happened with FONV, and on the same coin, I have been playing FONV more than usual so... I guess it adds up.

I haven't noticed an increase while playing for long periods of time. I've played over six hours straight before. What I have noticed is an increase in loading times the farther into the game I get. Especially when I get two companions and load em up with vendor trash, the load times get borderline unbearable.

One thing I plan on trying is loading the game onto the 360 hard drive. I recently ordered one since I have the 4GB console. I'll let you know if this helps at all.

I played nearly all TES, starting with the original, and Fallout 3 on the PC with very little problems. After playing New Vegas on the 360, I'm leaning towards sticking with PC for future Fallout and TES titles.

Most likely haha. :) Though I suspect my PSP will be seeing less action now. :whistling:

Honestly, i'm not defending platforms or anything, but PC FNV has been having as much problems as the 360 or PS3 Versions.

Good to know. I haven't perused the FNV PC forums. The only reason I prefer PC at times is there's always the delete and reinstall approach to catastrophic patches.

I agree, theres also something deeply satisfying about getting rid of something causing you unneeded stress. :whistling: Funny part is, that usually fixes what was going wrong.

I have the game installed on my Reach 360 HDD and do exit to the Dashboard. It does work, but it would better if I wouldn't have to do that. This leads me to believe there's something wrong with cache. Maybe it isn't dumping or loading properly. I'm no programer, but that's my inexperienced opinion.

And I appologize for my lack proof-reading talent, this ADHD takes its toll.

You're most likely right, though, it is an open area game, so the game has tons of things to load, so longer loading pages are to be expected. To a point.

I'm more of a PC gamer, myself. Console controllers don't feel right. The reason I don't PC games much anymore is the whole DRM (SecuROM, ect....) issue. I'd like to keep my PC running so I can use it and not have subject to a maliciuous 'rootkit' fouling my computer. EA really bunrt me on that. I still can't get that file out or my system. Hopefully reverting to CD-Keys will make a comeback. If so, I'll definately use my PC more often.

This happens to me A LOT. The longer I play, the longer the load time gets until it reaches a point where the game freezes and I need to reset the game to make the load time reset back to quick again. I'd like to see a fix to this problem for the sake of not returning back to the Dashboard and rebooting the game over and over every three hours.
