A serious Dicussion on Mounts

Post » Fri Oct 29, 2010 6:21 pm

I have searched mounts forums prior before posting this and the one that is remotely serious is all about the speculative dragon mounts.
I have a horrible time suspending my disbelief. And I would like to see us mounting animals, but i think dragons are a bit far. And for the matter maybe because i have a lack of creativity, but i just don't see it in Skyrim( i would like too).
The only reason im posting this is because i want to hear you opinions on the matter and TODD didn't deny or announce mount he just said "were not talking about mounts yet"

He said we aren't done with horses, in addition how iffy this may be because of his mentioning of how RDR did horses and he states along the lines of we want it dont right or not at all?

but their are horses in the game it seems.

none the less what is to be discussed? its all gonna be no less speculative than the Dragon mounting...which as far as I know is confirmed not to be in...

it hasn't been confirmed by Todd but there was a horse in the trailer during the scene with the windmill so we're just assuming they're in

in the trailer, the scene with the windmill there is a horse to the left of it.
so if anything horses will probably be a creature

Noice! Thanks for the clarification. :)

I had followed the podcasts and heard Todd discussing that they were still working on them - I can't believe I missed that in the trailer!

If it's true, I will be a VERY HAPPY HORSEMAN! Avatar kind of gives it away :P

---

Now to get serious. Here is the big dividing line for me:

Oblivion horses were nice, but it was annoying that I couldn't cast spells or do Anything on horseback other than light a torch. I don't think we will see mounted combat, as that would be hard to implement - but I would very much like the ability to do more while mounted. Looking in inventory at Least should be allowed.

I never really used a horse in Oblivion, although I liked the ability to when I just wanted to get a nice view. While Dragon mounts are unlikely, they did say there was a dragon shout allowing us to command a dragon into battle, so its not a big step to take from that a dragon could also be commanded to allow you to ride it.
