New 1.3 patch BETTER or WORSE?

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 12:17 am

ok... I was actually surprised to actually turn my xbox on, put in FO:NV and there was an UPDATE! I smiled with glee, jumped in happiness, and DL the update, 10 mins in into the game... it froze, and ive noticed it has actually been freezing twice as much now...

If you read some of the other topics, it's been an issue since release.

me too. loading the auto-save file hasn't worked since the patch came out. i can enter the game, but as soon as i enter a new area i can't get past the load screen. jumping back to a manually created save file gave me about 1 hour worth of playtime before it froze...and when it did freeze it did so in the exact same way as the auto-save crash. bummer.

but, it looks like bethesda is aware of the prob...i just hope they fix it soon. fallout 3 had it's crashes, but new vegas has accumalated by far the most crashes i've ever seen in a next gen game.

Better or worse? Well, for most, it would be worse as many can no longer play. As for me and a few others, even though we get the DLC message, our file still loads. As for me so far, I haven't froze once and I've been playing for..an hour and a half, maybe two. I also enjoy the features such as the new service rifle and new 'that gun'. So my opinion would be
that this patch is best so far, and would be better if my friends could Enjoy this update as much as I. Now once the update is re-patched, it'll be near perfect on my opinion.

Depends on your defination of worse. I'd rather have the save issues than a corrupted file.

On the topic of better, personally for me it's better, I mean I'm not bragging, but I got the DLC no longer available message, booted my three saves to check if they would load just incase I was suffering what 90% of this forum is suffuring from, and they run fine, well... as far as some items getting deleted and re appearing once I enter, leave, and re enter my Pip-Boy.

This. And, it also applies to me, which case I call the patch better, but I do feel sorry for those who's files have indeed become corrupt.

I wonder how much longer it's going to take to fix this mess. :/

They've already claimed to have a fix ready to go. So what's taking so long? Someone needs to get off their duff and get to work. For some reason, I imagine M$ is behind this. Not wanting to upload the fix until the usual/standard XBL updating time. Which means not until 5 a.m. east coast time for me. -.- That is unacceptable. I have an explosives character that demands my attention and it will only be worth playing when I have the patch. :/

I'm tired of waiting. I know impatience is impatience and it wouldn't be avoided in either case, but I'd have sooner just waited an extra day while these guys tested the patch than have the half-assed debacle that ruined today's potential game playing time. Impatience caused by normal waiting is much better than impatience caused by incompetence IMO.

I agree. I also feel sorry for those who are having problems. :sadvaultboy:

I'd say a day, two days max.

Microsoft has a habit of taking their sweet ass time when it comes getting patches out fast and effenciently. So yes, MS is to blame.

Though, honostly, this patch isn't half-assed per say. The changes they made took effect, it's just an unforseen bug reared it's ugly, irradiated two heads and svcked the fun out of the game for a vast majority of players.

All fair points good sir. Though, I imagine if this had been one of their precious exclusive games like Halo, Gears of War, or Fable (with the last two being craptastic IMO) they'd have it fixed and out by now.

Thank you very much! :)

Of course, favorites always get priority speed, if any other game companies/studios need to release a patch for one of their games on their (Microsoft) system, it takes an act of congress just to get the danged thing approved.

Heaven forbid if Microsoft looks bad. (Though, with the amount of time it takes them to allow another company to get a patch out...it's kinda counter-productive.)

I agree with u all, theres alot of re-doos, and balances, im happy to even get a patch in the first place. But to all the ppl with corrupt saves... tht blows (hard). My wants for this game are simple, little freezing (if possible non of course) and higher lvls (with DLC). Theres alot of things tht cause this game to freeze, for ex: When i tp to the BoS Safehouse im met by a Deathclaw (YAY!) and as soon as i turn around to kill it (or vice-versa -_-) game freezes every time. Anyone else notice a pattern in their games?

Honestly, this is the first Bethesda game I've had a problem with, Oblivion and Fallout 3 worked out fine, and I expect Brink will work fine as well. FNV's main problem is that it was released too early. A lotta games where released too early around that time *cough Medal of Honor cough*, mainly because everyone was scrambling to compete with Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops.

I agree with the cap though, I would love to be able to play FNV with a 99 level cap, i wouldn't care about the lack of perks after a while, I just want the stats and the ability to continue on. Well, I have the ability to continue on, it just gets a lil dull when you hit that wall and realize the majority of stuff you kill doesn't serve a purpose anymore.

YES lol

Honestly, they should do it as a last DLC, for when they're done making additions to the game, like Ruffian Games did with Crackdown 2, they added a mod system, and a horde system just because they knew they were done with the DLC, I mean, if you're gonna finish a game, give people a reason to keep playing it, aside from the replay value.

So, does anyone know when the patch for the patch (v. 1.3 redux 2) be done? I just hope my game saved data isn't corrupted. Game save data can be saved, but corrupt data is like a crooked politician. Gotta axe it. I'm in the next to the last mission in the Ceaser's Legion arc and almost done with the Deseert Survivalist achievement (so three left in the orgional storyline) before moving onto Dead Money. I guess I can work towards unlocking those last 5 achievements with FO3.

According to Bethesda, the English versions might be getting it tonight, though with Microsoft dictating when these things get released, I wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait another day or two.

If MS would have taken a little MORE time (And Bethesda / Obsidian), perhaps this whole save file mess would have been averted...

MS taking time wouldn't have effected the outcome of the patch. Though, this patch has been a long time coming as is. Just another one of those unforseen bugs.
