I thought the main reason they didn't want classical spears was because of the weird stabbing animation. It just looks too awkward to have as a melee weapon only without throwing. that said, tridents would look wonky. I don't wanna be Poseidon.

I realize TES is a fictional, but aesthetically tridents are no more relevant to the setting than a Japanese sai. I think other pole weapons should be considered first, like poleaxes and bardiches.

Is it just me, or are you EXTREMELY one-sided in your argument, and only want people commenting on how your idea is amazing and how tridents should be in Skyrim?

Well, I completely disagree. I'm not a big fan of polearms, but if Bethesda puts tridents instead of more classical polearms like halberds and spears, I will HURT someone. And why do you think that tridents were important in Viking culture? They were more commonly used in Rome and Greece until better polearms came into use-- like the aforementioned halberd. I have hardly heard about tridents in Viking culture-- in fact, not at all. I don't know where you got this information(Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know), but there's one last thing...

Nords are Nords, Vikings are Vikings... Sure, Nords are generally based off of Vikings, but why make Nords and their culture an "exact" copy of real-life civilizations? I actually DO NOT want Skyrim to be realistic in any way, as it should not be and as it is not shaping up to be. I am so far happy with what I've seen with Skyrim, and tridents would not be a welcome addition in my game.

I am sorry if this is at all offensive, but it seems like you came up with the first 3 reasons very quickly, just to provide some support for your argument while the whole point for your post was Reason #4. Again, no offense meant.

Personally I feel there was already enough in the way of melee weapons, I want more marksman weapons :gun:

One problem could be that probably all weapon swinging animations are the slashing/chopping kind, which is inappropriate for spears/tridents and other stabby weapons like that. So they'd have to make new animations specificially for that kind of weapon.

This seems like the real issue.

What's better than a trident to kill a dragon? A shield of course, to protect my ass.

3 points for that win.

Best way to kill a dragon is 360 RRoD. Hotter than a dragon's breath.

Ok this may be a mouthful. 1- Duh the argument is one sided. This is my opinion i'm arguing, not yours. 2- You tell me that it is not realistic that vikings have tridents, but wait- THEN you say,"I actually DO NOT want Skyrim to be realistic in any way...". It would seem that you are helping me out with my twisted, one sided, bias argument (Maybe i'm wrong, I don't know).

ccccccccct. ooooh. Maybe I was a little bit to harsh quoting your own argument like that. Whatever.
