TES Title lyrics

So here's the official lyrics that we know:

Dovahkiin Dovahkiin
Naal ok zin los vahriin
Wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal
Ahrk fin norok paal graan
Fod nust hon zindro zaan
Dovahkiin Fah hin kogaan mu draal

Ahrk fin kel lost prodah
Do ved viing ko fin krah
Tol fod zeymah win kein meyz fundein
Alduin feyn do jun
kruziik vokun staadnau
voth aan bahlok wah diivon fin lein

(english)

Dragonborn Dragonborn
By his honor is sworn
To keep evil forever at bay
And the fiercest foes rout
When they hear triumph's shout
Dragonborn for your blessing we pray

And the scrolls have fortold
Of black wings in the cold
That when brothers wage war come unfurled
Alduin bane of kings
Ancient shadow unbound
With a hunger to swallow the world

Theres something funny i noticed about these lyrics. the 2n'd part of these lyrics

Ahrk fin kel lost prodah
Do ved viing ko fin krah
Tol fod zeymah win kein meyz fundein
Alduin feyn do jun
kruziik vokun staadnau
voth aan bahlok wah diivon fin lein

I haven't heard in neither the In-game nor the Teaser trailer. however in the In-Game trailer there was a whole 3rd part of this song which isn't included in the official lyrics... (the first thing they sing in the in-game trailer)

my point is... none.

Lets discuss! :toughninja:

That's interesting. So female characters are going to be gimped? Can a female be Dovahkiin?

There is a pretty solid theory that the Dovahkiin is a Shezzarine, and Shezzar/Lorkhan is male.

Interesting point. aren't women used to this kind of thing though ( I mean this in jest. no one says Mailperson/Mail carrier, at least not in the US). I mean obviously your female character will be dovahkiin, the translated word for "Man" must've just fit better into the lyrics.

I don't understand. Sorry. The lyrics are telling me the focus is on male or it IS male. Now I worry.

The Spirit of Lorkhan would be within him/her.
Just making an excuse for you, Bethesda

That doesn't mean anything. Why is it so hard for people to grasp that just because "he" is used in this context doesn't mean the character can only be male? In Morrowind, the opening cinematic had text which referenced you're character, and referred to you're character as "he", guess what? You could play as a female character too. I don't recall if any of the Nerevarine prophecies used he or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. In the end, the song is presumably singing about the prophecized hero from the perspective of the Greybeards, and they probably don't actually know who Dovahkiin will be as a person, just the fact that he or she is the one who can fight Alduin. They don't know if this person will be male or female, so they're probably just singing about who they imagine the Dragonborn to be, just as Alduin's Wall depicts the prophecy as whoever carved it imagined it would be. And I'd expect the person the Greybeards would imagine the Dragonborn to be is something like the guy we saw in the trailer.

Besides, what are they supposed to do when they don't know the six of the character you'll play, improperly use "they" as a singular pronoun? And who knows, maybe the dragon language doesn't differentiate between male and female pronouns, I don't know that, of course, but since the song is in said dragon language, it might serve to explain this if it were the case, not that it needs explaining.

Now, moving on, I think the additional verse here is from the Game Informer article, and maybe it will appear as part of the complete song in the final game, I don't know. But the fact that the gameplay trailer includes a verse that did not appear in the teaser seems to indicate that what we heard in said teaser was not the full version of the song.
