This is just to get some feedback on an idea I have for a stat system.
I've had this idea for quite a long time, since I played TES3 and never got around to making it happen.
I know there is alot of CD mods already but none are like what I have in mind. That I know of.
In a nutshell, what I'd like is a level system that is as realistic as possible.
If you neglect skills in real life, you forget things. It's easier to relearn, but your skill is not always the maximum of your capability unless you are exercising it.
All stats (skills and attributes) should increase and decrease over time based on how actively they are used.
While you are spending your time training one skill, every other skill should be diminishing, depending on different factors.
I have not seen this done yet. Maybe there is a reason why? I'm not familiar enough (yet ) with modding to fully understand how the level system works internally.
I could see some potential problems with skill ranks and perks when a skill has lost or regained a level.
I'll try to itemize the main things I am considering, that I can think of right now..
1. Both attributes and skills should increase and decrease dynamically
2. Relearning should not take as much effort as the first time
3. Attributes should be more 'genetic/talent' and less influenced by training. I'm thinking that the influence actually needs to be sort of reversed.
4. Related to #3. The major and minor skill system should go. Skill difficulty should be based on the players attributes, not the other way around.
5. I haven't decided if the character level should fluctuate yet. I think probably no.
6. Diminishing returns. The faster you train, the less you learn.
7. Related to #6. The longer you train, the less you forget.
Some of those are fairly obscure notes, but I'll elaborate more in further discussion.
I'm wondering if this is something that people might be interested in?
Do you think it would work? If it's not balanced well, I could see it being very annoying having to retrain all the time.
I'll probably try to make this regardless, but hopefully some of you have some great ideas or advice
Any other ideas to make the stat system more realistic and balanced?
