Help me finalize my mod installation please

Edited: Hello, over the last 2 days I've modded the game to my likening. Today I've finally played till past the sewers and I would like to resolve the last problems, ask some questions and receive some suggestions.

In addition I've got some extra music, QTP3 reduced and Oblivion Stutter remover installed. Oh and the DLC_Frostcrag is actually Frostcrag reborn.


Okay now the problems/questions ( Edit: All have been answered )

1) Does Bashed_patch,0.esp need to be activated ( I've already rebuild it based on the BOSS tags ) ? If I activate it my game won't start up but crashes.

2) When I'm in my inventory/stat/etc screen the background is yellowish. This doesn't bother me too much, but is there any way to change it?

3) I've got a feeling that Level_Rates_Modified_x2.esp doesn't work and that I leveled too fast during the sewers. Any reasons why this shouldn't work? How can I find out? I know Progress is a better mod, but I just wanted something simple and reliable.

4) Before I could select my class in the sewers, I didn't have access to spells. There weren't any except my racial skill and scrolls. Afterwards this seemed to fix itself and I've now got access too my spells.

5) I can't run while going backwards. I know this is a mod "feature" but I don't remember which mod does this. How do I disable this?

That are the questions so far. I'd also like you to give any and all suggestions about my mod list. Anything that should/could be updated? Isn't needed? Or a better mod alternative?

And finally, if you got a good mod suggestion, I'd like to hear it. 5. This is done by Francesco's. There is an esp that disables it somewhere.

Can't help with the other things, sorry. Maybe Realistic Leveling sets the leveling rate by script? Just a guess, never tried the mod.

And finally, if you got a good mod suggestion, I'd like to hear it. Not sure what you mean with 'bog down'. If you mean performance then I'm a bit baffled. You run FCOM and you fear that something like Midas Magic or other quest mods will decrease your performance? That's like eating a Big Mac and then not eating a small salad afterwards because you think you might become fat if you do. You will miss a lot of great gameplay if you choose not to use quest mods like Kragenir's Death Quest, Integration (requires RBP and LAME, but those are must-haves as well imo) or The Lost Spires (to name a few only).

With "bog down" I mean that, in my previous game, I installed too much of these mods ( Midas Magick, Bartholm, Thievery in the imperial city,etc). I messed around too much and grew bored of the game before I had the chance to do any of the real fun stuff of Oblivion ( finishing Main Quest, becoming a guild leader, even playing Shivering Isles). So, while meaning no offence whatsoever to the above mods, I would like to install only a couple really high quality quest mods or mods that expand guilds/main Quest/quests.

Although, I must admit I'm really tempted to download The Lost Spires and Kragenir's Death Quest...

1. Make sure Wrye Bash is up to date, you should have Version 287. Try rebuilding your patch that should fix the problem. otherwise delete and copy the spare over from wrye bash extra's folder. havent a clue for the others though sorry

Thanks Johnn, me thinking Bashed Patch didn't need to be activated is wrong. Unfortunately, I already had 287 and did rebuild the patch. Your bashed patch should always be activated, and the crash may be caused by a missing master.

If you mean the "sepia" color effect? Then im not sure it can be removed.

Don't know why it does not work, but you really should try progress, Its not that complicated. you can do exactly what "Level_Rates_Modified_x2.esp" does in a few seconds. Everything is really easy to configure the way you want in the ini file that comes with the mod.

I'm pretty sure this is caused by supreme magicka. You will get your spells back depending on what skills you choose, if you choose to start with destruction as a major skill you will get all the starting destruction spells and so on. At least I think thats how it works.

The patch you need can be found http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17621 and it is called "No MOBS run limit". Ooh and don't be fooled by the name, inside the rar you will find the francesco patch.

Thanks, I've replaced it with Progress ( which is as simple as you say, I assume most default values for skill gain and such is okay and shouldn't be changed? I changed only 1 value, to give a x2 level rate ) and the bashed patch is okay now.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've discovered another problem. It has happened a couple of times now that, after I play for some length of time ( half an hour, or 15 minutes ), my game crashes when I try to initiate dialog with an NPC. It is a fast CTD so no freezing or somesuch with the message that Oblivion has crashed.
A couple of things have changed from the list above, I've now got progress and I've disabled Persuasion Overhaul and Map Marker Overhaul.

could you post your load order through wrye bash? it's easier to see from it what you have etc

edti: MMO is a great mod, why did you disable it, clashing with something?

I discovered that I have no use for Map Marker Overhaul. Since I'm trying to make my mod list somewhat more lightweight, I delete/deactivate all the mods that either aren't high enough quality or a mod that I didn't actually need but that sounded cool/useful ( like MMO and Persuasion Overhaul ). It is a good mod, but I personally don't really use it.

Some notes on your load order:

0C TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp - Import NPC Faces into the Bashed Patch and keep unchecked. Otherwise OOO's NPC stats will be overridden by it.
0D TNR - ShiveringIsles.esp - As above.

13 MOBS SI Optional Combat Settings.esp [Version 1.2.2a] - Not necessary as you get them with FCOM anyway.

25 sr_super_hotkeys.esp [Version 0.54] - Consider switching to Enhanced Hotkeys.

3D Loth's Blunt Weapons for Npcs.esp - Don't think you need this.

51 ArmamentariumLL4OOO.esp [Version 2.01] - Merge and keep unchecked.
52 ArmamentariumLLMagicOOO.esp [Version 1.35] - As above.
53 MMM-Cobl.esp [Version 1.73] - As above.

Thank you for the reply, it is really helpful.

Your first 3 "things-to-do" are easy enough. I'll stay with Super Hotkeys since I first tried Enhanced and it caused some problems. Plus, I find myself not really using the extra hotkeys so even Super Hotkeys may be removed.
Loth's Blunt Weapons for Npcs isn't needed but optional. Or at least that's what the FCOM thread says, so I think I'll keep it.

With the last 3 steps I'm confused. Do you want me to merge those 3 together? I'm new to merging but I've already installed TES4Gecko, so do I need to merge them together or what do I need to do?
Also, I see a handy Clean Plugin function. Any mods I should really clean? ( I assume I'll just have to clean the .esp?)

EDIT: Also, will the fact that I'm changing my mod configuration and bashed patch won't negatively affect my current game? Or do the changes just get applied without problems?

No, just merge them into the bashed patch. (I know; it's confusing, using "merge" for two very different things.)
Those esps should be in green text in Wyre Bash, yes? Well that means if you select them (as you should for all) in rebuilding your bashed patch under "Merge Patches" then you can (and should) deactivate them (changing the check mark to a plus sign) in your mod list. - Because that means the entire file is merged into (included in) bashed patch anyway.

I have heard (not sure though) that FCOM should be left alone, but most others can be cleaned. Many don't need it, but it is worth cleaning them just to see if they needed it.

Usually there are no real problems. But of course it all depends on the mods.

Also noted, as you are looking to remove unneeded stuff:
P1DkeyChain.esp <-- Pretty much superfluous when using DarnifiedUI, as it allows you to simply close down the "keys" section of your inventory.

I discovered that I have no use for Map Marker Overhaul. Since I'm trying to make my mod list somewhat more lightweight, I delete/deactivate all the mods that either aren't high enough quality or a mod that I didn't actually need but that sounded cool/useful ( like MMO and Persuasion Overhaul ). It is a good mod, but I personally don't really use it.

Thanks for the replies! I feel so stupid, every time I made my bashed_patch it automatically merged the mods into it, but each time I still reactivated them! I've cleaned the recommended mods, and updated UOP ( though I did skip it's textures/meshes because I don't want to reinstall QTP3 and its reduced versions ).

Are you sure All Natural - Indoor Weather Filter For Mods.esp needs to be activated? The description in Wyre Bash recommends against it.

it definitely should NOT be activated, not a recommendation really, if you activate it it will cause instant CTD upon launch. Use it only for the bashed patch, use the import function to import it, and leave it deactivated, in fact any mod which is in red in wrye bash, this is what you should do, it will result in a "dot" rather than a tick or plus next to the esp name, and thats what you want.

also, read the txt file BOSS display when you run it. look for any comments in the txt file, especially anything related to FCOM. any conflicting files will have a "!!!FCOM installation error" underneath the file name as a comment, alter/remove that file according to the instructions.

edit: since you're using OOO try OMOBS instead of MOBS, also, have you got the MOBS version of the unofficial patches? they have the same name as the nonMOBS versions, as stated in BOSS.

Use standalone MOBS/OMOBS instead, it can be merged with Bashed Patch and means you can use the normal unofficial patches.

Thanks for the replies. I'm a little bit confused right now about the correct MOBS. The only version I have right now is MOBS SI.esp and BOSS has this to say about it: . Bashed Patch tag suggestion: {{BASH:NoMerge,Stats}}

Which I most likely did, since I've rebuild my patch a couple of times and I selected everything ( except the ones FCOM says you shouldn't ) if BOSS suggested it.

As shiyaoay said, it's more congruent to use OMOBS with FCOM as OOO has OMOBS stats. But it's of course not wrong to use MOBS. Some prefer it over OMOBS. Anyway, I'd recommend:

OMOBS.esp [Version 1.1]
OMOBS_SI.esp [Version 1.1]

Import Stats into the Bashed Patch. Keep unchecked.

Okay, I've did what you said and updated the OP with my current LO. Also, just to be sure, are you sure they need to be unchecked? Normally Wyre Bash says when a mod needs to be unchecked but in the case of Omobs and Omobs_si it doesn't.

One last question: I've been having persistent crashes after some amount of playing (usually around 15 to 30 minutes ). Oblivion always crashes when I perform an "action" ( this can be, opening a door, loading an area or trying to initiate dialog with an NPC ).
Does anybody have an idea what causes this? I thought that maybe it was due to a lack of memory or something, but I've gotten OSR+4gb ram patch installed so that should prevent it, no?

As you only want the changed stats there's no need to have them checked. It will save you two slots.

are you using windom earle's crash prevention system?

also, whats your system specs? because if it has more than 4 cores, then i found something which might be really useful to allow longer gameplay before crashes.

I am using the crash prevention system.

My system specs are: intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.5GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT and 4 gb ram.
