Steam preorder "bonus" code

Post » Wed Nov 17, 2010 12:41 pm

So I have preordered BRINK from STEAM and I know that I will get my Spec-Ops pack by going to DLC and then place my code there, which I am supposed to get by my email. So I want to ask you If anyone of you already got it or when we are supposed to get them? (I am European, so I will get the game on 13th, so maybe I get the code on 12th?)

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I heard that it just comes in the game if you preorder. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm still waiting for my Direct2Drive preorder code as well, I'll start a new topic when it becomes available if nobody else does. My room mate preordered through steam so I'll ask him when he gets that as well.

Edit: You know what, on second thought I bet steam just recognizes that brink was preordered, and the codes given from Direct2Drive are also recognized as "preorder codes".

Either Steam will automatically give you the things w/o needing to enter a code, or when you launch the game a box will pop up saying "Blah blah blah this is your code enter it when the game prompts you yada yada yada"

I can haz turtle? (I never got one when I joined  )

So I should wait for an email or wait if they do the same thing as they do when you buy UT:Black Edition (pop-pup)
Well, It is not the exact answer so you will get :cheat: with :turtle: but no cookies :disco:

Steam sends pre order and activation codes when you play it. A pop up will appear with the code. Shift + Tab will bring it up anytime you want.

It's likely us D2D users *will* have to input a code. Steam users will have that code already part of their install, and it will load as a pop-up saying it's applying it when the game is first launched.

I've never seen a D2D game incorporate the pre-order bonus into the retail game key. That would require them having special "pre-order" codes. Which, afaik, they do not.

Most likely this.

I'm sure a pop-up will occur before the game fully boots up, telling you the code for promotional content (or something to that extent).
The code will probably either be entered in game or already entered, allowing the use of content right away.

Steam's done it this way for awhile.

It's given at the same time as your CD-KEY, when you start your game, you will have a small window pop up to your bottom right. Shift-Tab annnnnd magic!

I don't even think I get a pre-order bonus, nothing on the HMV website says I will. I ordered from the wrong place :/

You should recieve the code when the game unlocks, or just afterwards. For example, like with BFBC2 when you get the SPECACT DLC
