Love the Lost Spire...so far

Post » Thu Nov 25, 2010 8:18 am

I really love this mod, but I am stuck like most people their first time through. I got the note, the book, and the Lair key for Rythor's secret lair...what I don't have is any update to my journal to give me any idea of where to look. I have gone back through all 5 spires, the gold mine, the bandit lair, and the place out in black marsh with all the tall mushrooms. Any help would be great. I thought maybe the mod did not download correctly the first time I tried it, and I removed it and reinstalled it. Thanks. :brokencomputer:

I'm not sure you get a journal update... It might be something Aster Cei tells you when he gives you Rythor's key. Anyway, you're not going to like this, but you know where you got the note and lair key? You don't have to go far - look at your local map :)

I just finished this mod and I don't remember it showing me a marker for the room. I only know where it is because i like to look in every corner of a new area before I leave. Pretty much you don't need to leave Rythor's room what you're looking for is in a closet.

I found that walk through to be unhelpful after you get to the beginning of the final battle. I did not even look for a walkthrough until that point. I was able to get through the rest of it just by looking at the faq on the website.

Agree, this is an amazing mod. The creators must be professional game designers. For some reason it is the only mod I have been able to download. Vista seems to be picky about what mods it will allow to download.

The final battle requires timing.

Spoiler

The avatar can call down the fire storm before he's dead, so you have to run away and dive in the water. Then you can come back and finish him off. Once he's dead, then the roof starts caving in, but you can't just run out as fast as you can. You actually have to stop and let the cave in fall in front of you, or jump aside. Then you can continue on. It took me several tries until I discovered that you don't have to be super fast. You do have to be pretty quick to avoid the fire storm though - map out your path to the water ahead of time.

Yes, took 18 tries for the timing! But I will say, once I did it, man oh man, was that a great mod! Now THATS what I'm talking about!

Actually I was able to beat that final part without going into the water! Yet I don't wanna tell anyone how I did that one!
Spoiler
I was level 41 with my athletics at 100 and speed also at 100 and acrobatics skill of 95, plus I was using an amulet with a fortify speed of 25 and a fortify athletics of 25 and had it equipped, then I ran like crazy, exited the final boss fight room and ran like crazy thru the mazelike dungeon, and by pure luck ran right into the exit door and exited without realizing that I outran the falling rocks and moving firewall in both sections of this massive dungeon!

Haha. I've never boosted my speed that high or have been at such a high level. Last time I did it, my Breton's speed was 80 and I didn't bother enhancing it any further.

That's sort of what happened with me. I was level 20 something with very high speed from rings and amulets and out ran it without ever seeing the fire wall. I beat it the first time without dying. Then when I went to show a friend the ending with the music I died at least 10 times from rocks falling on me before I beat it.
