A few questions before I buy Brink..

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:18 am

My list of questions...

  • I hear that the multiplayer is mostly BOTS, and NOT real humans? Does anyone care to explain more? I honestly never do campaigns or single player, but this game is obviously different, so I may, but I don't want to play bots 50% of the time.

  • How are the leaderbords? Are they actually somewhat competitive?

    BONUS QUESTION:

  • I understand that this game is objective, and that is completely cool. But what kind of objectives are there? Can you run around and kill people if you please? (I know I will be griped at for this, but oh well.)

Not sure about the leader boards but I don't think that online is bots im pretty sure its player on player I could be wrong though but I hope I am right I think they have bots in place of lack of players maybe or so you can do privet games like in COD with combat training. but once again I could be wrong

1. You can choose to play the missions either:
  • Single player, with a bot filling up the teams
  • Co-op, with a few friends and the rest of the players are bots
  • Multi player, with all the players being real people

2. Leaderboards rank players by, and only display, experience points. Derive what you will from them.

1. No who said that?
2. There are no leaderboards right now, but they are working on an online stat board. We don't know if this game is competitive since it's not really out yet.

Online is with other people. Offline is with bots. Same gameplay, just with people or computers.

No leaderboards. Brink is a team game. If you are looking to get the highest K/D out there, Brink is not for you.

Protect/escort the VIP, CTF type games, plant the bomb, capture the territory. That's the ones I can run off the top of my head.

Also you could run around and kill, but you get barely any XP for it.

its a FPS so yes in theory just like any other game you can run around and shoot ppl... That being said if the entire team does that your not going to win. Also from what iam getting from your line of questioning this is not a game for you and the ppl around here wont feel the loss.

Don't go jumping to conclusions. You only say that we won't feel the loss when he says that he won't buy the game. Questions are just questions.

The objectives part of the game, IS the game. All of these objectives basically gives you a purpose TO your killing. The killing never really stops, it's the objectives that give you reason, that make it fun and different, that make the re-playability endless because there are so many different objectives and so many different ways to approach them. The objective game play in no way hinders your fun of shooting them up, but at the same time adds a team dynamic that has never been seen before. As for clarifying the exp thing, you can still get a lot of EXP, as long as you are killing people interacting with the objective and not on the other side of the map enjoying the games amazing scenery.

Last time I checked, Super Pangolin has the most recent info I'm aware of. If XxUrbanShadowxX knows of dif, I'm not sure what the sources are or I could just be outdated. Happens...happened with the release date. Brink has a site. http://www.brinkthegame.com/ Best resource for info is usually straight from the source.

And XxUrbanShadowxX nailed the bonus question.

When you want to play a multiplayer game the system will search for a match that is in your criteria, if there aren't any then it will start a match with you and bots that will be replaced my humans when they join. \

From what I know of the Bots in online multi-player are there just to fill in spots if someone leaves and then another player can join and that bot will be removed from the game, so rather than waiting for someone to join and pausing the entire game the bot can takeover keeping the flow of the game going. For the leaderboards I think they show just the amount of xp earned i.e. 5780xp, hope this helped I'm getting the game tomorrow so I can probably answer the questions in more detail then.
