Where is Azura?

Post » Wed Dec 08, 2010 1:45 am

In the trial of Vivec, Azura is "banished" from Tamriel. Does anyone know what this means exactly? Can she still converse with those in tamriel, but not take physical form, can she converse through her statues? Is it possible to enter her deadric realm from Tamriel in anyway, now that she is banished?

And is she just banished from Nirn, or just Tamriel? Is she still very much active in Akavir? Is that why the Neravarine has traveled to Akavir?

Anyone?

Daedras can't be killed only banished.
Basically if you 'kill' a daedra on Mundus only his mortal form will die, its 'spiritual' form will be sent back to oblivion.

though I'm not sure if they can return, I think they can

Although several of the devs took part in the "Trial of Vivec" RP, it wasn't made canon. I joined the subsequent Loranna's Lore RP group a year later or so, so this is secondhand, but in the "Trial of Vivec" story arc Azura is banished temporarily from the Mundus but eventually returns and takes over a Nord barmaid named Loranna, making her the Vessel of Azura and founding a cult. A later plotline was called the "Blue Dawn", when Azura drew a line for her followers, turning the believers into the Azurites, fanatic devotees similar to the Sixth House who could each summon a Winged Twilight at will. The Azurites turned against the rest of Morrowind before eventually being wiped out.

Anyway, this hasn't become canon, so I think the best conclusion is that Azura was banished for a while from the Mundus but gradually gained the ability to return -- at least, in "Oblivion" she is able to speak through her statue.

Azura just can't send avatars to Mundus for some time. Her true form, her realm, still exists. Also, she kept Sul, the dunmer mage in the TES book, as a pet for a while and now torments him with visions of the future.

Thx for the replies. I was kinda sad before to think Azura might be gone forever in the lore.

Now on a different note, is there anyway to get to that back stabbing Vivec? Or does him joining CHIM mean he is basically untouchable at this point? And if anyone can elaborate what CHIM is, I would appreciate it.

In short, I am all, all is Me, I am Me. This is in contrast with zero sum, where you realize you are the first two, but not the third, and you disappear (lack of selfishness to call yourself an individual). This is paradoxical in nature, so try not to think too hard on it, or you may zero sum

Although you made it into a joke, it's technically true...I've read stories about Zen monks reaching zero-sum (or CHIM, although it depends of each one' perspective...they simply call it "Illumination"). When realizing that "I am all, all is Me", you dissapear from this world, in the sense that you become sort of "invisible" (not physically speaking, but in your "attitude" towards the world...it's pretty difficult to explain altogether).

In TES, if you Zero Sum, you're gone completely, only to became everything and everyone, but you are not yourself, just everyone. You pretty much do not exist anymore. With CHIM, it requires the selfishness "I am Me" part in order to stay yourself. The only part I was being silly was after the last comma in the last sentence.
