Fallout 1 - Armor stats?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:26 pm

I'm playing Fallout through Gametap and have no manual for it. Could someone explain what the numbers in the stats of your armor mean exactly?
For example for "Combat Armor" it displays this if you have it on and click Inventory:

Armor Class 24
Normal . .5/40%
Laser . . .8/60%
Fire . . . .4/30%
Plasma . .4/50%
Explode . 6/40%

However if you have Robes equipped:

Armor Class 9
Normal . .0/20%
Laser . . .0/25%
Fire . . . .0/10%
Plasma . .0/10%
Explode . 0/20%

There are three things here. Armor Class I'm assuming defends all damage types. But I don't understand what the numbers mean next to the damage types, like Fire 4/30% on the Combat Armor. I imagine this may mean it absorbs 30% of fire damage but then what's the "4"? If anyone can explain what everything does specifically I'd really appreciate it. :)

The percentage is damage resistance. ~ Damage is reduced by this

The number is damage threshold ~ Any damage taken is reduced by this amount.

Damage resistance is applied after damage threshold.

Thanks!

So, Combat Armor vs a Plasma shot of 54 damage initially would be lowered to 50 by the threshold of 4, and then cut by 50% by the resistance to 25 damage.?

Any idea how the "Armor Class 24" factors in?

AC affects your opponents chance to hit.

So if your opponent has a 90% chance to hit you, it is reduced by 24 to a chance of only 66%.

With a slight caveat... If the end result is greater than 95, then it is reduced to 95. Eg, if the base chance is 130, and the AC is 30, this gives 100, reduced to 95.
