Some of these weird negative reviews...

Post » Fri Dec 10, 2010 9:42 am

Why does IGN complain about repetitive objectives but gives COD a 9. HELLO at least BRINK has objectives, did you not notice that when you played because there was no "objective" to walk around with a FAMAS or AK74U? Just remember what they rated Broke Back Mountain (really well because no one wanted to say it was bad) and that goes to show you that rating never make sense; I have seen Black Ops get 10/10; not to hammer on COD fans but that means that NOTHING could be improved and I don't think anyone could say that.
Please tell me that you guys aren't going to cancel pre orders or anything like that because this would be the worst reason EVER.

There is 7 review threads on the first page, not including this one. But yes, i'm very disappointed with these reviews.

Reviewers are flat out stupid, never listen to them because a game is different in everones opinion. Just like for some ungodly reason people like CoD and some don't. It's all opinion

Pfft my second favorite mutliplayer game of all time got a metacritic of like 58 and that was years and years ago. I take reviews with a grain of salt. I also do tons of my own research. I'll be enjoying this game I have no doubt. let the negative reviewers play COD and homefront and let them enjoy their "non repetitive" gameplay (LOL).

I'm seeing mixed reviews.
You might like it, you might not, but all this "the reviews are crap!" is just as biased as the reviews...

Try the game, decide for yourself, mixed reviews does not = bad game, it means not for everyone.

Am A COD fan and all ive played since september is Black Ops theres alot that can be improved 9/10 you say!! not by along shot would give it a 7/10 but thats my opinion (see what i did there). Have brought this game because its different and the objective style of this game wont turn into Tdm with most your team disregarding the game mode because there scared of k/ds being destroyed by trying to complete objectives, think you will be surprised how many players in the lobbys i join ,that are looking forward to a real objective mode experience and a game where hopefully all perks skills and weapons are more diversley used. My thoughts is all.

Oh I bought it, but Im already disappointed. I guess, I don't come to bethesda for COD. They make my favorite RPGs. Guess I figured with character customziation, classes and a storyline about the ARK I was going to get an FPSRPG but..its not. Its just a series of themed, timed missions. They made sure to make some of it look like Borderlands but it sure aint Borderlands. I won't say its a bad game, maybe its a great game but for me it just isn't the game I was looking for. Its a shame, it could have been so much more.

I would like to see the first multiplayer FPS that does not have repetitive objectives! These games are designed to be played for hundreds of hours, who can expect constantly new objectives? The real variety is in the online gameplay and how that evolves over time. That is what the reviews should focus on.

Please tell me that you guys aren't going to cancel pre orders or anything like that because this would be the worst reason EVER.

I have seen a few reviews and they are pretty much what I expected. Brink is a game that needs some time to mature by building up a solid online community and Splash Damage addressing issues that arise as it matures. I'm confident that this will happen and want to be part of the process from the early stages on, so no, I won't cancel my pre-order.

Not sure how they're stupid when they're just stating their opinion. Reviewers don't say only listen to my review cause it's 100% correct, they write their opinion on a game and attach a score to it. Take reviews with a grain of salt because in the end it's up to you as to whether or not you like a game. People need to relax when a game they like gets a bad score and not declare them biased.

I would have LOVED that, but I think that would be a bridge too far at this point in time. Maybe it will be possible for Brink 2 on the next generation platforms, although it would certainly be a huge mountain to climb. Just look at the development time for Oblivion, and that is just single player. Competitive online multiplayer would take up so much more time.
But still, yes, I would love to see a game like that in development.

Would you recommend it to someone "on the fence" such as myself? Series of timed missions doesn't sound good to me.

4 points that prove the IGN review is boswollox. <_<

1. Twice he refered to the resistance as 'the rebels' (That really irked me >:3)

2. He barley mentioned how Brink forces you to work as a team, which makes me think he played it wrong. And is now noob raging. An actual journalist. Raging.

3. Games such as CoD basically repeat their own games and get constant high marks, yet Brink which brings a whole new attitude to shooters is hated.

4. He complains you cant stick to a class as he always had to do the main objective, which tells me he didnt play multiplayer. Real people > AI.

So... yeah. Brink is really badly reviewed here the reviewer just didnt get it. Itwill defiently cost Brink sells. So thanks IGN. You moronic boobs. :3

One thing to always remember about reviews, is that they are the opinion of just one person who speaks on behalf of the gaming website they work for. Reviewers try to lay it all out on the table in terms of what they point out about the game, but those small details amount to that person's take on things they personally did not like. Using meta sites such as Metacritic or GameRankings can at least offer a wide array of reviews from many different sites in one place. But in the end, you have the right, at all times, to disagree with any reviewers opinion of a game. Never look to just one site to provide a definitive recommendation.

Brink being a completely new take on the familiar team-based shooter is so different that most reviewers can't "see the forest for the trees" when it comes to games like this. The same could be said of the recent game Bulletstorm by Epic. It has a community and there are people that get it completely. The scores for both games have been about the same. The media talks up the game and perpetuates the hype surrounding it. They inflate expectations and are the first to jump all over it when it doesn't meet those extremely high standards. They instead should relax the expectations of completely game-changing IP like this. The customization options for both the characters and the weapons are INSANE for this game! The potential is already seen for a great team-based game in Brink that can be lots of fun. The community surrounding the game is going to grow and remain consistent. That is all that matters because patches can fix issues and balance gameplay issues.

Enjoy the game and have fun playing it! I know I will!

omg, I would have hated that :D I could live without all the dress up play, all I want is fast teamplay action. And with the SMART system and the classes this really looks like it. Can't wait for BRINK to unlock in europe :mohawk:
