Lore reguarding vivecs preferred weapons

Post » Sat Dec 18, 2010 11:05 am

Vehk was a serial rapist and a god(jhow more awesome can one get?). As Lady Nerevar showed, Molag Bal and Vivec were probably not spending all of the days laying around biting metal spearheads at the end of wooden sticks. There'd be no reason for it.

Well, there's the lingering question of what actual events, if any, sermons 12 and 14 are refering to. The 36 lessons are not meant to be biographical.

That's true, Nerevar was in them in many of the Sermons, whereas in reality he died before Vivec became a god. Of course, the Temple has insisted for the longest time that the Tribunal became gods through their deeds, not through the Heart.

That's a common motif in history as well.

Vivec and Nerevar are quite like Charlemagne and Roland.

With a few names and nationalities changed, "The Song of Roland" could fit perfectly into Vivec's Sermons.

And I've put forth an educated guess, respecting his character and origins, that he had no martial prowess, until becoming Master of Morrowind. I liked that answer more, so that's the one I gave.

It's all relative, though. The Chimer were a hardened people, due to culture and the environment in which they were raised. I'd rather fight a newly enlisted Imperial private than a seasoned Netch herder with an ironwood stick lol

Ah, Vivec, I never thought it was possible to hate you more than I already did.

Until I read Lady Nerevar's post.

And, there you have it, I hate Vivec even more.

Also, Lady Nerevar, you misspelled "censored" as "sensored." Just thought that I would mention that.

Sir, I ask you, were you lying when you said you were insulting us or were you lying when you said you weren't insulting anyone?

Ok dude do you know what sarcastic is? thats what I was being.... I was so dar tired of people going off on stuff that didnt' have a darn thing to do with what I was asking... I just wanted to know about literal weapons not repsentations of what they "could" be... and now the topic is exploding into something that doesn' have anything to do with what it originally was supposed to be...

I was only asking about literal weapons....

Prowler was acting like I was insulting people and I only wanted mature responses (that was all I stated I was asking for) about what literal weapons vivec had used during his life not the lewd references I was getting.

There's not one single text that deals with Vivec literally, so it's stupid to ask "What weapons did he really use?", and if you read the Vivec-oriented books in Morrowind, you'd know that.

One ok people never 100% of everything they read so your comment is mute, two I make a topic that was only asking about what weapon types a character could have used during its life time instead of straight answers I get lewd comments about genitals where were unnecessary, three I get people rationalizing their use of lewd unnecessary comments and say I got a problem such as ladynerevar, which again has nothing to do with the question I asked or anything I had typed.

The only thing I asked about was weapon types that the vivec character could have used.... and my responses had nothing to do with what ladynerevar was typing either or prowler or others that made sixually related comments... I'm done with this now...

You love hearing about Vivec's spear and curved sword, and you know it, bro.

Sarcasm? You weren't being sarcastic. You called people who were referencing the sermons immature, (it's where we are getting the genitals stuff from) and then you lied by saying you weren't insulting anyone. After all, you earlier claimed to be insulting us.

I was only asking about literal weapons....

This is VIvec we are talking about. the guy is so stuck up symbolism's butt his head hangs out in symbolism's mouth (meaning, you can't get very literal). The "lewd" stuff is not immaturity, and it's not bad. It's just what's in the sermons.

Jeeze louise, someone's uncomfortable with mythological, anatomical, and psychoanolytical basics. The spear is a very classic phallic symbol, also used to suggest domination and male fertility, all very fitting to Vivec. sixuality is nothing new in the Elder Scrolls mythos, and is older than dirt in real life cultures (Zeus slept with anything with a hole between its legs, the Egyptians believed the world was created when a god mastvrbated, etc.). Pretending that Molag Bal, the King of [six without consent], used Vivec's body gently with his literal spear is just willfully ignoring the whole sermon. Is it smut? Yep. Does that make it wrong? Nope.

Just so this is understood I don't have a darn problem with things related to sixuality I just keep them in in areas where it actually has something to do with sixuality not a persons choice of weapon types... I never once said I had a problem with sixuality.

Sorry if this is some how aimed at someone else and I misunderstood. If I didn't misunderstand who this was aimed at this is way off base I was only asking about weapon types not sixuality and mythological things which is very off topic.

Again, Vivec's junk isn't off-topic, because in the trial of Vivec and the sermons he's described as attacking people with it.

Interesting thing, which I am pretty sure was discussed somewhere, that statue of Vivec stabbing the Shalk with his spear looked very metaphorical, as the dwemer take of Shor paints him as a scarab.
