Nuclear missile launch facilities

Umm, it sure seems to me that the ICBM works as advertised. You hear the warning sirens and then the whole building shakes from the rocket motor during the launch. Yes, the computers all short circuit afterwards (probably from old age and the shaking from the launch). What is your evidence that the missile does not actually go anywhere?

If you go back on the computer after the launch, it says their was an error and it was aborted. Well, it says something around those lines anyway.

That's the B.O.M.B 001. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ballistic_Orbital_Missile_Base_001

I don't think so, "B.O.M.B." stands for "Ballistic Orbital Missile Base" and was designed to launch, as the name suggests, ballistic missiles. "Highwater Trousers", however, appears to be dropping mini-nukes around the tower, and IIRC it's described in-game as a micro-nuclear weapons platform.

In-universe, I'd imagine it was a proof of concept before they moved on to building B.O.M.B. 001 and B.O.M.B. 002. IRL, it's a nod to Van Buren's plot by Beth.

It says there was an error with the tracking system - so basically, the missile launched but there's no way of telling where it's headed. Far far away, I would expect.
