War Masks (Spoilers)

Post » Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:26 pm

So, Daggoth Ur and the Tribunal seem to have these symbolic war masks that they like to wear. These can be seen upon confronting Daggoth Ur and Almalexia. Sotha Sil's corpse is also shown to be wearing a mask when you find him in his clockwork city.

For whatever reason, Vivec doesn't appear to have one. Or if he does (in lore) it's not present in the game at any time. Is there any information on these masks that they wear and any idea if Vivec also has one?

He wears Water-face and Fire-scalp. Those are better than war masks.

The Ash Mask isn't a war mask though. He fell asleep outside, and when he woke up he was completely covered in ash.

Normally I would ask hypothetically why Vivec would need to sleep, especially considering he was likely much more powerful back then (as he would have been only been cut off from the heart for around a year), but I think of all the stuff in the Sermons and since this is one of the few tales of Vivec that not only makes sense but has tangible evidence that it actually happened, I'm better off just accepting the story as it is.

I haven't played MW in years, but I seem to remember a tomb tapestry that shows the Tribunal masked.

What makes you say they're war masks?

Because they're locked in a perpetual struggle against the demiurge?

To be quite honest, I think they're ceremonial masks, atleast I THINK that dagoth ur's mask was called a golden ceremonial mask in the dream, I'm not 100% sure though (and I'm too lazy to look it up ;) ). But if I think about it, it's pretty much the same. I highly doubt they'd wear masks for protection...

You never get to see Dagoth Ur without a mask, do you? :P
