Don't trust to reviews, some of those guys who wrote them played the game for only like 50 minutes (Confirmed on guy from joystick) etc. Its al about the 1st day patch which will fix all major lag/graphic issues.

I think the biggest reason you are seeing bad reviews because the AI is terrible which makes the single player pretty bad. They are giving it an 8 because the potential that multiplayer has. I think SD really failed with trying to "blur" the lines of SP and MP, should have just made a traditional single player campaign and this probably would have gotten a 9(and some better AI) from a lot more sites.

To be honest, I do not care about single player, never have for an FPS. If I want to care about single player, go play Fallout 3 or Mass Effect. Or any other RPG for that matter. FPS are true multiplayer games, so I will probably love this game since most of the focus seems to be on multiplayer.

I have not played the game yet but you must realize that although some complaints are pure opinion that most of their complaints are pure truth.

- Stupid A.I.
- Very bad map designs with choke points that make a good offense almost utterly impossible.
- No lobby's
- Only 20 ranks to climb through which would not be a problem if you did not progress through them so fast. But you do in brinks case.
- Lag

Although lag can be fixed with a patch the rest of the flaws are not easily fixed. A good map design is key to shooters imo. And when a shooter more than just fails at such a thing as map design then the game's multiplayer is [censored]. And since brink focuses on multiplayer this will hugely impact the score. Along with fast and limited leveling and no lobby's this is a killer for a game like this.

True. Also, despite that every one says this is a FPS meant for every one, this is actually a niche game. You need to love multiplayer, objective based gaming. A reviewer isn't going to be in that niche market, so obviously it won't appeal as much.

Check the user reviews versus the site reviews. Much higher. This, my friends, is a cult classic!

At least Gamespot has the goodwill to delay their review until they can fully play it online. Go Gamespot! (unless you insult Brink, in which case go to :obliviongate:)

it's called hype, alot of people ...especially in this forum, really worked this game up inside their heads. it's an online multiplayer game. it has a better than average movement controller but it's not exactly parkour. it's team based rather than loner based. it focussed on movement rather than camping.

but many people drew alot of colour in those grey areas. they watched videos of people who can change details via debug commands playing the game like unstoppable gods. and they assumed the game usually plays that way. the reality started surfacing over the weekend as video after video showed newbies wandering around confused. supposedly human like bots who looked just as confused.

at one point i watched a player and a bot look at each other for a few seconds then the bot gunned him down.

but as always the biggest clue, embargoed reviews til release, day one patches, and shutting down youtube clips revealing the less than hyped gameplay.

i'm looking forward to this game. i'm still pretty hyped as well. but i really enjoy team objectives multiplayer and that is what brink set out to do first.

Sorry I'm just quite angered by your post. A lot of FPS' have really good singleplayers, which I think you may have turned a blind eye to.
Have you actually played the game personally? Or are you channeling information from videos you have watched?

gotta agree with you . too much reviewers are comparing brink with cod or review brink based on cod.
so screw the reviews and get the game! make your own judgement about the game and not some person you dont know with a bias opinion about a game you are excited in

Yeah IGN gave it a 6/10 for the Xbox 360. But Eurogamer and some other review site gave it an 8/10. The day 1 patch hasn't gone live yet, so maybe once it does, the game will get more positive reviews.
