Doomsday Scenario

Whoever holds a powered-up White-Gold Tower holds symbolic and physical dominion over Tamriel, or at least a very significant part of it. Currently White-Gold is, for all symbolic purposes, offline. Akatosh may or may not be the new gem, but even if he were, that'd only mean that he holds White-Gold Tower. Now, Umbriel is an Oblivionic version of a Tower with Umbra as its gem. It's purpose is to bring a point of Oblivion to Nirn and merge Umbriel with White-Gold, merging the Point with Nirn. Suppose this happens. White-Gold's gem would become supplanted (if it even has one to begin with) by Umbriel's gem. Umbra. Umbra eats the souls of both those who wield it and those who meet the other end, turning practically everything it touches into just Umbra. What do you suppose would happen to the rest of Tamriel if Umbra was allowed to remain powering White-Gold? White-Gold becomes Umbra. Tamriel becomes Umbra. Aedroth becomes Umbra. Umbra becomes Umbra.

Just a thought.

This goes back to what Shades was saying, if the city was besieged, and a wall fell, would the Aurbis go with it? Probably not.

That echo was a diagram for projecting the wielder's rule across creation, Empire Actual.

I thought Umbra was a sword, not a gem. Soryy, I'm fuzzy on my Infernal City facts.

Umbra is a powerful Daedric spirit, who was trapped in a sword. He broke free, ate a piece of Clavicus Vile and now acts as the "gem" for the floating city of Umbriel.

I assume the reason Umbra the person was strong enough to challenge Clavicus Vile and wound him was that he had absorbed countless human souls through the ages of being wielded as a blade.

If umbra were to become Aedroth and channel into white gold allowing him to imprint? upon Nirn.
Three possibilties imo:
1. It would bring down the barriers to oblivion would it not, and with the power of a realm comprised of a self parthenogenetic soulgem, put all daedric powers at risk ( think the matrix ).
2. If we believe Manker Camoran the aedra can die, Daedra are forever, so mantling the aedra would put Umbra in the realm of mortal, thus weak to outside influence.
3. The umbrial citizens are self aware now, becoming an aedra relies on belief.
If your own cells? can't believe in your power, you loose yourself into becoming a shadow spirit clinging on in the wilds.

I never got the impression that Umbriel had any intention of staying at White-Gold - but rather just using it to pop its bubble of Oblivion and move on. That said, I like the idea.

Where does it say Umbra is daedric?

Implying White-Gold is still active, to some degree, or else it couldn't siphon Umbriel with the runoff creatia.

I was under the impression that Umbra 'transformed' Clavicus Vile's avatar and that was how it wounded Vile. So there might be a Daedric essence floating around, but, yes, you're right. Not strictly Daedric.

I'm speaking strictly symbolically here. If the source of White-Gold's dominance was a soul-svcking sword, what do you think would happen?

I misunderstood.

I think the Wheel within could permanently collapse, not that the Wheel itself would. That is, the influence of White-Gold, on the other Towers, would be lifted.

I have got to get the book! Does it end out okay, as like the entire empire is at peace, or does it leave you hanging?

It's a two parter with the second part being written, make you're own conclusions.

Ah true, I forgot that they said there would be two parts. :P Well, then perhaps I shall wait until they both are out, as I don't like hanging endings. :P
