Old, Wet Note.

Hello there,

I am a huge Falmer lore seeker and consider my self as being pretty much a know it all in Falmer Lore. So much so that I even help creat a Falmer dungeon mod for morrowind (The Neverhalls) and an expansion (The Forgottenhalls).

Now, those two mods are Falmer based mods and they push and strech Falmer lore in every direction. I am not saying that the lore created for them is right and I dont want this thread to turn into "that lore doesnt exist if its fan/mod made".

In a way, I am looking to strech the lore further by this thread, but its mainly to get an opinion about which direction, not the content, of this lore.

before I get into the Lore, so to speak, to those that havnt played/heard of the two mod above - they are essentialy mod which revlolve around a Falmer Ruin based at what is believed to be the finale conflict with the Falmer and the Fall of the Snow prince. Within those ruins, on the upper level, we placed a necromancer who was exploring the ruins - looking for the Snow Prince's armor.

This isnt too much of a push on Falmer Lore, as we have the old wet note from Bloodmoon:

Winter-Fist,

It is as we had feared. Angria and her rabble are intent on stealing the Snow Prince's armor from Jolgierr Barrow. My men drove them off, but they grabbed the helmet. I know they're hiding somewhere here on the island. They've been seen before near Lake Fjalding and the Frykte ice cave, so try looking there. I'll join up with you as soon as I'm able.

Heinlen the Heavy

Now my question is this:

Is it possible and feasable to assume from this note - that there exists two things:

1) Other information about the Snow Prince and his burial outside of the "Fall of the snow Prince book" which was left in the snow Princes tomb
2) That there exists a group of people that seem to know and want to protect this information

Lets take the 1st point - The note tells us that a group of people knew about the tomb and the armor - but not from the book that was in the tomb. I came to this conclusion simply because if they used the book for the infor they would have took the armor along with the book at the time and would therefore not be looking to loot the armor. If by whatever chance they had previously visited the tomb and took only the book to learn about the armor later then the book wouldnt be in the tomb...... And secondly theres the part about they grabbed the helm and were driven off - this suggests they were surprised and in a hurry - and wouldnt have had time to take and read the book.

So where did they get their information from? Know one else knows about the tomb suposedly.....

The 2nd point - Why would a group of people that want to steal the armor suddenly turn on each other nad try to stop others from stealing the armor? I personnaly think that there exists a group of people that are trying to protect the tomb and this is what the note is all about.

Then there are some other questions - why is the note found on a body at the bottom of a lake - someone trying to cover something up?

I ask all these questions/raise these points because I am looking into expanding upon the two mods and creating more lore for the Falmer - but I dont want it to be half baked lore. I am looking to try and make the lore connect to existing lore and/or try and make it feasiable/reasonable lore.

SO I thought I would raise this with you guys here to see what your thoughts and ideas are regarding this old wet note. A lot of my research shows either people tend to ignore the note or say its the undead in the tomb that protected the armor and the note is written by one of the theives....but this clearly isnt the case!

Sure. We can assume the author wasn't omniscient. Information is power, and not everyone wants to share power.

It proves that Falmer were just as, if not more, advanced than the protonords that landed in Skyrim. This is heretical information.

I figure they'll be fleshed out in TES V and Skyrim will be filled with "Falmer ruins". Hey, I'm just going by what I've seen in the past.

yes thats all well and good but I am not hanging around for tes V to release a morrowind mod ;)

hmm so its logical to presume that there may be other copies of fall of the snow prince or other nord records. ( basing all my lore on pre-oblivion here as I havnt really played the game and it would be biased of me to be one way or the other with the game. SO working off morrowind/daggefall lore)

and there are definatly hints that someone is trying to protect that information. Looks like I have some fun ideas to mod with :)

Maybe there's a fear, that if the armor left the barrow, the falmer savior would return. The fear could be totally baseless, but, by chance, a wanderer took the armor; and now the guardians of the barrow fear the Snow Prince has returned. In Skyrim, snow is traditionally synonymous with (elven) trickery...

that could explain peopel protecting it. But not how the theives knew about it and its location hmmm.

Perhaps a secret society of some kind that the theives walked into?

Yeah, and a secret society is bound to have a defector...

I could imagine, after the suit is taken, the renegade guardian and his ex-compatriots call for a truce. Neither has the armor, and they're hysterical the savior has returned.

yeah but the events in the wet note happened before the palyer takes the armor - as it states they only managed to grab the helm - which we know is missing when the player goes to get the armor.

So perhaps a truce was never needed - they hunted the theives down and while they werent guarding the player chances across and takes the armor.

i do like your thoughts on a secret society protecting the armor for magical reasons.

Perhaps a powerful mage wanted to get their hands on the armor?

Like the Boys from Bruma, right? Mini-Tibers domesticated by the world's elite.

Then they'd be Pjijic, not Cyrodiilic. The foremost elitists in Tamriel were the Pjijics, the Cyrodiils, the Dwemer, and probably the Telvanni or Indorils.

No.

It was reference to a book/movie.

Imperials can be Psijiics.
