@ trizz, yes, you are right about the old gaming days like CS 1.5 to CS source.
but, those games where made for that. This game isn't.
it's a complete different playing style. i don't know many games like Counter Strike, i believe that game is still on it's own.

And because of it, people still massivly play it. (sorry if the spelling isn't 110% correct, dont forget im dutch, at least the dutch do know multiple languages).

Sadly, you are like many of us, being poisoned by the ridiculous idea of prestige mode. I think it was BRAVEHEART who reminded me of the days when we played Goldeneye 007 and there was no anything at all. Just gun, maps and friends, and it always equaled a good time.

Screw Goldeneye, Perfect Dark was where it was at! Actually I never got into Goldeneye, but Perfect Dark had TONS of challenge modes and medals so I was spoiled from the outset of my FPS career.

Of course Im also a big MMO player so I like having little meaningless tidbits to keep me going. Both Halo and CoD expanded and added new ranks and cosmetic fluff after release, so I hope SP will do the same with Brink.

Dude im talking about the old gaming days of cs beta .88

Point being, a game doesnt need ranks and unlocks to be fun and long lasting

You've got 10 characters to reach max level with. You can consider that a personal achievement.
I'll have to say though, Call of Duty was smart with implementing "prestige mode" because it requires so little effort to develop and yet it seems to give players much more motivation to keep playing.
It is kind of an illusion of progress indeed, but it does keep the player engaged and that's the important thing.

not completly wrong or right.
i am still going in prestige modes to get the highest medal and the highest camo styles and stuff.

+ it's more a challenge to own the players who turned highest level at the start, and don't get prestige. or got it with cheats.
just like CoD Modern warfare 1. first one with this method of playing. i owned almost everyone at 1 of the biggest indoor LAN in europe, as a lvl 1 person. with only standard load-out.

either way you can play, or you can't. just need to keep practicing

Just like to say i played bc2 200+ hrs AFTER hitting 50 (max rank) which takes most people including myself about 400 hrs. Not to mention i had every gun and spec in the game unlocked by level 22. U sir, are a nub. Maybe they will make brink cataclysm so they can raise the cap for kiddies like u. Why dont u look back to game with no ranks, like cs. I know its hard to beleive but before COD and the millions of 14 yr olds playing it, in cs and ut skill was meausured by just that, skill. Youd say wow that guy Quick scope scouted me from across the map, hes good (or hacking lol :D), or o damn is that guy godlike right now. You went on kill streaks because of skill, not pressing up on the dpad and watching +100 repeadily pop up ehile u camp in the corner. Even in a game like bfbc2 with ranks, its nit as if all the 50s are better than the 35s (tho there is a corelation). That being said, the correlation is largely time played in ranking not skill. Why dont u get online and play some fools and get ur [censored] rocked, then now what? Get better fool

What the f... You on drugs? You need to cut the crap and write down something less aggravating. You know? more to the point?

Anyway

After reading all of this I can only understand that you don't like a higher level cap and a more in depth unlockable system. I never said I wanted a ranking system that can be compared to WoW or CoD. I just want more :/ Brink simply has in my opinion a progression system that just ain't my thing. Attachments are handed to you like candy and you level up to the max in one night.

So Doomsiren, are you telling me you already played the game till the end?
If so, on Xbox or PS3? or pc by proxy?
PS. i don't like the story you're telling about the game....

Its making me sad, i thought it would take me like 70 or 80 playing hours to unlock the most cool stuff, but all unlockable within 10 hours of playtime?
Thats a BIG miss from the game developers. it all had been susponed for 8 months, what did you guys do in the meanwhile?
Not that i'm not a fan of the game, but it sounds a little disappointing if it is made so easy to accomplish. I need challenges to keep me going.
And then, this would be a big disappointment for me after seeing so much of the game before the releases.

First thing in my mind now, is that i have thrown 50 euro's away for the game. (thats 72 dollars for a game lads and gents!, Yes we europeans are paying the big price for it).

Well, i'll just wait and see what i has to offer. Back with a personal review on saturday midday (dutch time @ CET +1:00 hours)

Never said I played the game. I only said that the issues many reviewers have in common worries me.

@ Trizz - I agree with you man. I remember the old Starsiege: Tribes days where it was only about playing and teamwork. There were no levels, kill streaks, unlockables etc.
The joy of 10-20 kills in a row was just that and bragging rights. However I do understand it's different now and they feed this progression crap to gamers now in days.
It's not my cup of tea but I can understand that some people like it. I just think a game shouldn't be judged for not catering to the norm. If you want hardcoe progression
there is a game out there for it. Let this game be it's own game.
