Best alternate start mod?

I can't decide. Arrive by ship, TuStartingOptions, or Alternate Start Revamped? Thanks XD

I was using Arrive by ship, but then switched to TuStartingoptions.
TuStarting IMO has better roleplay potential.

Add my vote, too. I've been messing about with http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25591 lately and so far I'm very impressed. You get 45 starting locations, plus a few random "Surprise me!" choices to make things more interesting. You create your character in a "dream world" in which you wander through various areas. I find it to be a very enjoyable process. On top of that, it doesn't appear to interfere with beginning the DLCs as other alternate startt mods sometimes do. I heartily recommend this mod.

http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/17-role-playing-oblivion-new-beginnings/ is what I've been using. It's pretty straight forward, and does good what it's supposed to.

Wait... an alt start mod, made by Cliffworms, that allows for Daggerfall-like background choices, and has no known issues with the main quest? Why was I not told of this? More importantly, why is this not a part of Oblivifall?

...Cliffworms... You got some 'splaining to do.... :)

And it's only been downloaded 35 times in a year? Something's wrong here :P

Since this thread is here, I've been meaning to ask if anyone has any experience with http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19949. It is supposed to make it so you don't have to do the main quest and Kvatch has not been attacked yet. I haven't seen anyone on the forums mention it before, I'm curious about how well it works.

I use Alternate Start by SHip, but this looks promising: http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/17-role-playing-oblivion-new-beginnings/

Awesome. I have been using it for quite some time.

Ah yes, that one is really fun.
The main problem with it, at least for me, was that it doesn't do anything to prevent talk (and books) about the Emperor's death, so it breaks immersion.
But the background story you can create for your character, along with bonuses and penalties, is truly great stuff.

Ahaha, I was thinking the same thing. I just found it perusing through TES Alliance.

Huh, I didn't notice that (haven't been playing much lately), maybe it's something we could let him know about? I don't think he has a thread for it on here though.

Actually, I think it's mentioned in the "odd note" that the Emperor was killed. I'd like to see the time set to around 8:00 the next day, though, if you take the "by other means" path. On that note, has anyone had issues with the Prison option? For some reason, it doesn't stick me in the cell like it should.

I'll take it up with Cliff tomorrow :)

Hmm...when I played I never found the "odd note". I guess it's possible that I didn't read the ReadMe carefully enough, though...It's also possible that I'm confusing it with the alternate start that CMD made (which is no longer available on Nexus). Yes, that must be it - I first used Cliffoworm's mod for one game and then CMD's for another. In CMD's mod the emperor and his sons were still alive, but dialogue and books pertaining to their deaths had not been updated and I tried to made a patch for it, which was only partially succesful.
Come to think of it it does make things much simpler if the emperor is already killed when you start the game. Since Start Choices is supposed to have problems (the details of which nobody seems to be able to provide) with All Natural, maybe I'll go for Cliffworm's mod in my upcoming game after all...

CMD's mod also had the problem that when the first time my character got arrested in the Imperial City she ended up in the Bruma prison.
