Getting Kicked Out Of Guilds

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:25 pm

I like the fact, at the same time I don't, that your player can get kicked out of a guild if a crime is committed against the guild. But I think it's pretty cheesy to have to go and find 20 bear pelts or whatever else just to get back in. I hope Bethesda definitely overthought how to renew your membership back into a guild. Who else agrees?

I hate to make more morrowind references but I feel they did it right. You had to pay to make amends and often if it happened again you were out for good.

Obviously you should have to prove your loyalty and cut off a finger.

I don't see why people keep making threads about how certain game mechanics will work in Skyrim lol. If you don't know, why would we? We don't have the game yet either.

I didn't say I knew, or anyone else knew...if you read again it says I hope Beth rethought the way you get back in to a guild. That's it. Didn't say anything about knowing anything.

That's how Oblivion did it, as well...

Its a punishment, its supposed to be tedious. Of course, you could have just taken the one bear pelt from the beginning of the game and duped it. But the way it was meant to be done was to assure you wouldn't do it again.

I liked how it was handled with the Telvanni...they immediately let you back in without a care. Helps when all of the heads of the house are too busy and apathetic to care if you slaughtered a rival town. Obviously, you had the stronger argument.

I don't like how a guild leader can be kicked out as easily as a new member.

Oh, the Telvanni

I mean...what a bunch of insensitive jerks!

But yeah, I like how they did it in Morrowind and Oblivion. Every guild had their own way of reinstating the player back into the guild. The Mages Guild, appropriately, required a very tedious task of collecting things that could be used for alchemy. The Dark Brotherhood required the player to fight a Wraith. House Telvanni just let the player back in.

God I love the Telvanni......

HIEGHTMAPS FOR SKYRIM PLEASE SO REGIONAL RESTORATION CAN COMMENSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. KNOW THAT CYRODILL WOULD BE LARGER THAN ANYTHING OBLIVION EVER OFFERED IN SKYRIM. (don't come to me about morrowind is poof, Im well aware)

I liked how Guilds handled your expulsion, they should expand on this and add lingering effects like tedious missions, lower dispositions with guild mates, more unspeakable crimes would lead to more dangerous missions, suicide missions etc etc, and going to far would simply blacklist you from the Guild and its services.

BUT

The fighters guild and mages guild were dissolved no? they were Empire instated, and the Empire we know a love/hate isnt around anymore...so?

Oblivion was fine with this, you could cheat and dupe or buy bear pelts, but that's a case of your game, your business.
What wasn't fine was your horse being in the Fighters' Guild, got nothing against being kicked out of guilds, IF I deserve it. Stupid stuff like this had better be sorted for Skyrim.
If you are in the thieves' guild, and you get caught stealing from, and kicked out of another guild, good, that's how it should be, welcome to the world of conflicted interests, but please sort out who counts for assaults on guild members.

Yeah, that bothers me...I would like it, though, that if I was a senior ranked or head of the guild, I could give people a "love tap" without being expelled.

You stole a fork! Out of the guild! You punched a member! Out of the guild! You butchered and ate half the members assigned with your for the mission, and threw the rest in a fiery hole! Out of the guild! Please... . More lax standards on what qualifies for termination.

Eh, making guesses and suggestions can be fun. Even if it doesn't turn out to be true, it's a nice way to pass the time till 11/11/11

Anyway. I always thought the guild rivalries in both Morrowind and Daggerfall seemed pretty unimportant. It might take a little more effort, but you could become the guild master of both, say the Mages Guild and House Telvanni if you wanted to. I'd like to see it kind of pan out kind of like this if rival guilds make a return: Say you get caught in the act while doing a quest for a rival guild, and you're expelled. If you want back in, you'll get a quest to steal a valuable artifact or kill a member of the rival guild to prove where your loyalties actually lie. If you ignore the quest, eventually you'll be permanently expelled from the guild. However, if you go through with the quest, you'll risk drawing the ire of the rival guild if you're caught. This will make players put a bit more thought into who they take sides with.

In OB today I got kicked outta the Mage's guild... No-one asked my story...
I had a summon with me, right? I go into Bravil Mage's guild and some B@stard shoots a fireball at me, then my "faithful" skeleton came to my rescue and killed him... So I got in big Trubble!

Isn't that what the Yakuza does?

Anyway, yeah, there should really be a new system as far as expulsion and readmittance (sp?) to a guild. Like for the DB you should have to do some sort of really difficult assassination or some really dark and evil satanic-worship-esque ritual.
